Rebuild CDV715 and CDV717
6
George, I have a dead CDV-717. I see rebuild services and rebuild kits for the CDV-700 but no service or kit for the CDV715 or CDV717. Do you know of any or is this an untapped market? Clint

Source for 6993 Geiger-Muller tubes
3
Geo, I have a Victoreen CD V-700 Model 6b in need of a probe tube. Do you know a reliable source for these tubes? There are a couple sites I've seen online that offer these for sale but appear to be fraud sites, ie. Incorrect phone number, non-existent mailing address. Clint

JIGSAW PUZZLE PROJECT MODULES presently available as of Aug-2022 Geo
The Show2Me Counter boards with updates installed, minus the daughter CPU module are ready in limited quantities. The V02 HVG/L (High Voltage Generator) with actual Ludlum supplied OEM transformers are ready, only 25 available The PRE-3 stuffed boards are ready, as are the bare PCB for the bold. We're putting together Experimenter Kits starting today, any member who was part of the JIGSAW project can ask for these as well as any member who has an experiment box in the works. Advanced members who were not in the original design group may join at any time and contribute knowledge to the rest of us. PLEASE BE AWARE: These are never to be used in a commercial product or sold alone, they may be gifted to another amateur scientist if you are finished with them, they may be freely used as demonstration hardware in videos and print, but please credit GEOelectronics. They are a gift from GEOelectronics, to be used as non-profit educational and personal Physics experiment/ research tools. Any use of a module or instrument provided by GEOelectronics should be credited as such. The JIGSAW PUZZLE PROJECT is a series of modules we built, they stack together to for any number of rad-detection related tasks, GM tube, Scintillator, even Proportional tube, The main module is a 400 to 2500V DC HV Bias supply, the PRE-3 is a set of 3 cascaded preamplifiers on a single pcb, user selectable line up, and contains the master gain control, while the "Show2Me" Counter pcb does the control and readout functions. There are other modules for special functions. Each pcb is a circuit element, they are discussed separately as circuit elements on the JIGSAW chat groups. "Systems Integration" group is the discussion of how to use the various modules into complete device, or to add one or more modules to an existing platform. One member used his PRE-3 to replace the entire damaged-beyond-repair preamplifier in a Ludlum bench scaler! How to use the Red Caps
All protective caps used on AMPTEK and similar solid state sensors MUST be ventilated. An unventilated cap tends to draw a vacuum if removed quickly, putting stress on the sensor's thin beryllium window. See pictures of some Red Caps that I make and use. The Red Cap is first punched with the vent hole, 1/8" is ideal. Notice one cap has a really large hole punched in it. As it is, it can provide some protection to the sensor, but when paired with a special Kapton Tape accessory, it is very much more protective- see the Kapton discs, themselves punched with a 1/8" central vent hole. FYI I have one complete ready to use GEO-1-2-3 left for sale. Geo

High Voltage Zener Reregulator
3
hi, any diagram or instructions where the reregulator actually wires into the main board? Or more specifically, where would you attach in say a LENi? If I get the jist of it, the red wire is 900 volts in to the module, say split the 900V coming out the probe out on a LENI board. Then orange wire provides 440V out. Could go to a separate BNC connector? Run it to a switch, and switch back and forth between 900V and 440V? the wire loop.. ground - just hook to board ground somewhere? thanks

GEO 210 Probe budget kit
7
hi.. got the probe kit. Do you have a clip to attach the red wire to the round connection on a LND 7311 sensor? all I got was the red wire, couple of resistors, shrink wrap ... as for mechanicals and mounting the lnd7311 in the housing - the 3 brackets hold it down - have to punch holes through the foam gasket for the screws - that seems intuitive. The kit included nuts and washers I see no use for ? Also, the bracket hole at the bottom six o'clock position is right where the LND 7311 stem will be. I'm guessing twist the probe around a bit and have the LND stem a bit off of six o'clock so that mounting screw/bracket can fit. thanks

LENi and HV Meter
2
hi, thought I'd post here too.. just in case any thoughts. The geo HV meter works perfect on my Vic 6b, Ludlum 3, Bicron 200. So I know the box is good. When I put the HV Meter on my LENi, it creates a constant chatter through the speaker and the meter activates - like I am in a very strong radiation field. It's not just a constant buzz.. it's a very consistent chattering and needle movement - like it's being pulsed. And, I am having other issues with the LENi with HV, likely related. I don't know. I got the LENi HV up to 860V on any consistent basis but it won't go any higher. Disconnected the zener module and tried measuring the isolated power supply section.. if I got a good measurement, it was about 820V. while I am working the HV issue - does the HV Meter causing feedback through the audio and meter suggest a problem area? thanks

Greetings all. Welcome to my new Group IO chat page.
Just kicking this new page off, if you have questions about anything you've bought or use from GEOelectronics, this is the place to ask for information. Much information has been stored at this link: https://www.qsl.net/k/k0ff/ Have fun, George Dowell Geo
