Sources changed many times over the Speak2Me project. Since I haven't built any for a while, I have no immediate knowledge of what is available today.? We did notice a few things that can be useful- testing many speaker designs, it was found the larger speakers produced more volume, impedances from 4 to 16 to 45 Ohms all worked, and speakers with larger magnets were louder regardless of the cone diameter. This magnet size was important enough to modify the end of the ENi PCB to allow for the greater speaker depths. The loudest 2" speaker had a magnet almost as wide as the cone. I bought up the entire stock of those and used them in the last few hundred LENi-PRO units,? no more remain We actually cut off about 1/4 to 1/3 of the end of the PCB where the meter resides, then fed the meter with wires from brass eyelets ae installed on the meter end edge of the bobbed PCB. Additional drilled holes and brass eyelet terminals wire installed there for the X2 Range upgrade. Besides these there was only 1 jumper required to go all the way across the board to complete the battery circuit, and this was done by installing brass eyelet terminals and Teflon insulated silver plated solid wire. The result lest plenty of room for deeper speakers. Volume is also enhanced by the speaker being mounted on the case, and the top buttoned down, sort of a speaker baffle effect. Another note having to do with all the CDV-700 and 700;like units- the HV generator can easily soar to 2000 and more Volts, at which point the transformer fails internally. In those units with corotron regulators, their failure can cause this as well as operating the HV generator without anything attached to the secondary- usually caused by PCB crack breaking the copper trace. In the ENi, failure or removal from the circuit of the Zener diode on the primary side will cause the HV soaring issue.? I am not having much luck finding a suitable fit for the speak2me mod on LENi.????? thanks |
