Re: VFO and questions for builders.

Thanks Andy,
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?The VFO looked like a real nice piece of kit. Though if you have plans for a pcb for a Si 5351 based VFO I will wait and go with that.?

Thanks again for all your efforts. They are very much appreciated. ? Ian K3HQL

Hi Ian
I thought about doing another run of the VFO PCB's but decided against it.
There are many open source Arduino based options available using the Si5351 or Si570 and being open sourced means the code can be modified to incorporate user specific functions etc.
The original VFO I developed was based on a custom firmware chip supplied by SDRKits but unfortunately the code was not open source or made available to me.
I do have some code for the Si5351 which includes band switching but I need to test it and draft up a PCB which I will do once I have finished re-doing the LPF module.
Keep an eye on the group...

VFO and questions for builders.

Andy and all,

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?I was wondering if there were plans to produce some VFO boards? If not what is everyone planning on using. I have seen an (AK2B) design with a Si5351 chip utilizing the Uno but controlling BPF's and LPF's are where I am falling short and I am not understanding how I could accomplish that.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated and most welcome. ?Ian K3HQL?

Hi Everyone

The PCB's for the G6LBQ multiband project have arrived and I will start to prepare them for shipping today.

You can expect an email soon to confirm your boards have shipped but please be patient as it will likely take me a day or two to process them all.

Those of you who have paid a deposit and have a balance to pay will receive an email requesting a final payment prior to shipping.

I will soon be finalizing the PCB artwork for the MK3 LowPass Filter module so keep an eye out for a new database for registering your interest.

Kind regards

MK2 Exciter PCB Correction

Hi Everyone

The latest batch of MK2 Exciter PCB's that have been manufactured and sent out over the last week have a small but easily correctable error.

Please see the attached PDF file for further details and solution.

Re: PCB's

Hi Andy,

Just to let you know the board package arrived, seemingly safe and well. It will be another week or two until I'm in UK to collect it but looks good.

Many many thanks for this brilliant service.

If you are contemplating building the transceiver with the intention of etching your own PCB I would strongly advise that you etch a PCB for the MK2 Exciter, this is a two layer PCB but all the important tracks and pads are on the underside of the PCB (bottom layer), ?the top layer just contains linking tracks that can be made up with wire links so you can just etch one layer!
The PCB artwork for the MK2 Exciter is available in the files section for download.
The MK1 should be considered as experimental where as the MK2 offers improvements and better performance.

Does anybody know where I can find all of the silver mica capacitors for the BPF board?

Spectrum has only some of them.

As I'm from Brazil it isn't worthwhile to buy from different sources because of the shipping costs.
