Templates for circuit boards Multiband Bitx 17
Hello I am looking for a PCB layout for the exiter LPF and BPF as well as the amplifier I work with Sprintlayout and trace the boards. Some layouts can also be found in the archive but not everything I am missing the layout of the bandpass module. You can trace this using the pictures in the manual but the question is whether there are ground planes on both sides or only at the top. The exiter only has ground planes on the underside. I have started with the exiter and am working on it I have also replaced the wired ADE-1 mixer with the SMD version as the old version can hardly be found anymore 73 Bernd

Irwell HF Transceiver Update
It has been a while since I updated my blog with progress regarding the development of my Irwell HF transceiver and for those who have been following the project, I realize you may find the lack of updates frustrating and I get it! Now, while it may appear that I have not been working on the project, I can assure you I have and the next blog post will be coming soon. In short, I have had a frustrating time with the design of the modulator, which has turned out to be a greater task than I envisaged. Making the decision to include FM as a mode of operation opened up a rather large a can of worms. The microphone amplifier circuits I featured in my last blog post are fine for SSB and AM modulation but not ideal for FM modulation, as they lack pre-emphasis. Also to avoid over deviating in FM mode some form of clipping/limiting is required, then there is the small matter of how to implement FM modulation at the component level. In the end I decided to generate the FM modulation using a PLL IC and VCO. This was no easy task, as the PLL chip data sheet was a nightmare to make sense of and I had a huge learning curve writing the software to control the PLL IC, I am not a software engineer and my knowledge in this area is limited to what I have taught myself. After building various prototype circuits and many hours of work, I feel I have achieved my design goal and I am now in the process of finalizing a suitable PCB for the module. Once I get the PCB's back from fabrication, I will build and test one and if all goes well, I can move onto the final few modules needed to complete the project. I will go into much greater detail when I update the blog. For now, best 73 from Andy (G6LBQ)

hello new here looking for info 2
Hello everyone, I landed on this group in search of transceivers that are similar to the ubitx. ubitx is ok but like one post stated from prototype to production in a short time.Has had alot of problems from the start plus lots of noise and harmonics measured from my little tiny ultra. i found links which led me here regarding the g6lbq project of a multiband transceiver. is this project still going? did the transceiver get into production and if so where is the links to go to either find more out or purchase it. any one have any info or am i too late on the scene?HI HI 73 David ac9xh

Carrier Oscillators question 2
Hi Andy, hope you doing well? I’m busy with the MK2 multi bitX still as I don’t have a lot of spare time these days and it’s dragging on a little… But I was thinking of something and need your advice… my DDS VFO can have offsets for USB and LSB which I’ve never used before on all the radios I’ve used it on as they all have carrier oscillators to switch between like yours. My question is this… my IF is 11.059Mhz so if I locked one CO to 11.059Mhz and used the offsets in the DDS VFO to resolve SSB audio would this idea work? Sorry to sound like a novice again I feel I’m starting from scratch as I’ve been away from the shack for so long… If this idea is valid it would make construction etc a lot easier and only one CO needed. Anyway thank you for your time you give to us with your work and ideas, yours Paul M0EME

G6LBQ MULTI BAND-BITX 6
Hello All, I received from an OM in our club a blank PCB for a G6LBQ Multi band -BITX. I like to make this project , but the documentation is missing . Where can I find this ? I know this is an old project , but I want to give it a try Thanks 73 ON4RDB Roland

Irwell TRX and ADE-1-24 3
Hi all, The Irwell AF schematic shows an ADE-1 mixer. Although still available, the ADE-1-24 seems to be easier te get, and cheaper (I know, I'm Dutch, ;-) ). I have read that the ADE-1-24 can be substituted for the ADE-1, but I have also read that that is not the best idea. Does anyone know what the wisest thing to do here would be ? Thanks, 73, Hans

Welcome to the group!! 3
Thank you for accepting me into the G6LBQ group. It seems to be a fascinating group fulfilling the real amateur spirit of radio as ITU refers to, establishing the radio-amateur service. I guess I am here to have a pleasant time trying to recover the new developments in radio! 73's de sv1acw Panos Athens/Greece -- de sv1acw

Multiband BITX Mk 1 Linear Amp 4
Hi all Having just resurrected my G6LBQ Multiband BITX transceiver I discovered a problem with the PA. Historically I had issues with a splurge of carrier and stuff as I went from TX to RX. Now fixed. However the PA stage is playing up, and taking it of the case and testing results in the BC640 transistor giving up as soon as I go to TX. I cannot measure the idle current (35mA). Has anyone else had problems with the Mk 1 PA ? I notice there is a MK2 and a MK3 so am wondering if there was a common problem, hence the new versions ? Cheers Adrian M1LCR

Irwell transceiver update
Hi Andy, Your update to the IF amp/agc looks great. Had few questions as outlined below. If I were to use the AD8361 outside of your agc circuit as a AM demod what is signal range in dBm that it can successfully demodulate ? E.g -40dBm to -10dBm Can you indicate the input matching component values in your IF/agc for an IF or 9 MHz or 10.7 MHz Also could you help with calculating the diplexer values in your mixer for an IF or 10.7 MHz and 45 MHz ? The current values in the diplexer are for 11.059 MHz. Can you explain your component value choices for 11.059 MHz ? I looked at the values and somehow they didn’t seem to match the expectations below. Series LC branch XL = XC = 50 x Q factor at IF freq Parallel LC branch XL = XC = 50/ Q factor at IF freq Kind regards Rahul.S
