Hi!
It is already some time ago that I wrote here at this place.
Just a quick note for those who have their DSTAR gateways connected to the ircDDB network:
The ircDDB webserver crashed yesterday early morning.
We have already a new cloud system running parallel since beginning of the year, but still did not do the final step and move all data to that system.
I talked to our provider and they found that the hardware where our old VM runs on is completly down.
They will need a few hours to fix it and we will hopefully see it back shortly.
The ircDDB network still works full functional, the IRC servers in the 2 groups are up, but status pages and the registration system are currently not available.
Michael DL1BFF fixed an issue with the dynamic DNS feature which was reported, it should work now again.
We decided to take this issue as a final trigger and complete the move to the cloud system within next days.
The old server still run an outdated CentOS version with very old perl and php scripts. This needs to be adjusted to work on current supported Linux versions.
The server was on air 24/7 since 2015 without any real failure.
Before we had 2 servers located in Switzerland for some years and at the early beginning in 2008 we started on a server from the German Amateur Radio Club.
We hope to have the old system back again tomorrow and want to switch to the new cloud based system until Christmas:
With that we should hopefully be save for another 8 years. :-)

Yes, the availability of Pi’s continues to be a problem. I see Amazon is selling a 3B+ for $69, basically double the intended sales price. And if you thought you might someday want to configure for more than one DV mode, while the 3B+ has plenty of horsepower for D-Star, DMR, C4FM, NXDN etc, the new open source mode M17 requires a faster CPU, like the Pi 4. Amazon is selling a 4B 2019 2GB Pi for $75. I would have thought these supply chain problems that started when Covid-19 took off would have been solved by mid-2023, but apparently not. Since your goal is D-Star, you have a lot of choices. Good luck. Hi Jim,? I like to have multiple options over the table, since my goal is to help to increase?the D-star network. I don't care if "you" are a REF or XLX defender, so all the options are an option.? Maybe check the “permissions” of the two init.d files. As a test, make them executable using the “chmod +x timeserverd” and “chmod +x ircddbgatewayd” (or whatever their names actually are).

Here is what I found:
If you do this update, there might be an issue whereby the
Pi-Star thinks your callsign has become M1ABC.? You'll know
because at the top of the main dashboard screen, it says: "Pi-Star
Digtal Voice Dashboard for M1ABC"?? instead of using your personal
callsign.
I found that you can fix this by manually editing the following
file:
/var/www/dashboard/config/ircddblocal.php
In that file...change the M1ABC to your own callsign.? Then
reboot.
You might want to pass this along to the DStar France team who
makes the bash script.

France.? It worked great.? Just use the browser translator to show
you the page in your language.

Help needed for G4KLX software on CentOS 7...

I succesfully installed G4KLX software (ircDDBGateway, APRSGateway, Timeserver) on a PC running with CentOS7 (I will add ICOM G3 later), but I have a problem at boot.
?
I followed the instructions in "Transition to a blended G3 + ircDDBGateway environment" written by Keith VA3YC ("Transition to a blended G3.pdf"), but when timeserver.service and ircddbgateway.service are launched at boot (both programs are launched as services), I got an error "Failed at step EXEC spawning /etc/rc.d/init.d/timeserver : No such file or directory" and "Failed at step EXEC spawning /etc/rc.d/init.d/ircddbgateway : No such file or directory".
?
Both services are exited with "control process exited, code=exited status=203".
?
Of course, the files and directories do exist !!!
?
Any idea ?

Fabrice, Yes, while Pi-Star is mostly up to date with the latest G4KLX MultiMode software versions, including the very new M17 mode, it is not up to date with the older G4KLX D-Star only software. It is not helped by the fact that G4KLX only makes the older programs available as source code. In the past, he also distributed a binary version compiled for Intel/Windows, and another ham would also compile for Intel/Linux, so all we had to do is download binaries. Pi-Star was built for home-based hotspots, but I am finding new MultiMode repeaters are also using it. The main drawback is the Administrative password is the only protection to keep non-administrators out of the admin function. The main advantage is Andy takes care of all the updating and it is really easy to administrate. I am an administrator that prefers software stability over the latest version. In the D-Star world, there are very few features being added, at least not features our repeater users are asking for. But I understand different repeaters have different purposes and different user requirements. We are lucky to have so many choices. There are several sources of the latest gateways and their IP addresses. I have seen a few articles about how to use these other sources on Pi-Star using automated updates. Good luck on the new system in the center of Paris. Sounds like a fun project!
