Hello Again. I wonder if there is anyone who might please help with a dilemma I have? In Bill Henderson's book "Cancer-free...Healing", he covers the importance of your immune system needing to be "in cancer-fighting shape". As such, he strongly recommends certain supplements being as "essential" for that. On that basis, I bought 60 - 500mg Beta-1,3D Glucan tablets (he says are far superior to other makes) and I started taking the recommended 3 tablets/day (for my 150 pounds weight) 30 mins before eating breakfast. That will cost about ?105/mth (US$140) until I reduce. Not cheap, along with all the other increased costs. Have just ordered more, not to run out, so will probably continue until my next PSA test in 3 months.
Yet, in File No. 5, it states "Dr. Budwig did not include drugs or supplements in her protocol guidelines. In her 1999 book, she spoke against them. She warned that high amounts of man-made supplemental antioxidants can interfere with the diet's benefits - and a note there to ask this group? Any other's thoughts on this is appreciated but I realise it can probably only come down to making a personal decision myself. The cost is secondary at this stage, one problem being I cannot take Ibuprofen or Tylenol with them (so my sleep suffers with other pains) and being SO big, struggling to swallow. I think I also need large Vitamin D3 doses (and K2 because of that) but would struggle with the initial 25.000 I.U. (then 10,000 later) that he recommends. I might half that. I don't know Dr Budwigs views on that yet and it is hard to know how much to deviate from the protocol. Any suggestions please?

Malcolm,
I can only?say?what I have done to fight stage 4 Cervical cancer. I took Dr. Budwig¡¯s caution about supplements seriously and stay away from them. I take?only Vitamin D3, Zinc,?calcium, and?Curcumin. ?Not only does she state some may interfere with the protocol, but my understanding is that most supplements are not regulated so I wonder can we really trust their contents?
I firmly believe the healthy diet we follow with Budwig boosts our immune system as needed.

Dear Malcolm, I don¡¯t post often, I am 12 years out from a terminal prognosis of lymphoma. I find that the fewer supplements the better, as this protocol is so nutrient dense! I do take D3 2000mg daily as well as a elderberry and zinc chewable. That¡¯s it and my recent blood work show I am doing so well on all markers. Don¡¯t get overwhelmed, just eat right, get some sun and Vita D3 if needed, and reduce stress. Pray if you are so inclined with gratitude ?? Sending blessings your way. Dear Grace, Thank you so much for your helpful reply. Sorry for the delay but I only just became aware of it. I am so glad about your recovery and I will give up those supplements.? If they are so effective, they will have done considerable good in the past fortnight anyway. I can always return to them if needed. I take vitamin D3 daily, usually 3000IU, sometimes 4000 with K2. My family think I then overdo it, 4000 being the maximum our NHS website advises. I will ask about elderberry and zinc. I (and my good wife) have been overwhelmed with it all (masses of info and diets) but are getting there, things fitting into a pattern. Lots of natural, organic food and CC/FO with berries/nuts daily, no processed.
My I please ask you another very minor question? Do you still use any cow's milk in your diet? As recommended, I have given up sugar (using Xylitol) and all dairy foods (I greatly miss my yogurt, cream, butter, cakes, biscuits, trifles, custards, etc.) but like milk in my tea and coffee, rather than plant-based. In one BP recipe I read or watched (using the CC/FO combination) I recall a suggestion to add more milk to thin it down if too thick? That makes me think a little daily milk is acceptable. It is hard to know how strict to be.
Fighting stress is hard. I have recently started on anti-depressants after a 2 year battle without, and Diazapam temporarily to combat high anxiety/panic attacks. My hip is now suddenly very bad and painful, unable to walk far, so the recommended exercise is difficult. My wife has PD which is very challenging (slow, but copes marvellously) so, being a Christian, and lean heavily on my Faith. I do a LOT of praying and reading my Bible daily. Thank you again and God Bless. Malcolm

Hi Doebucky.
Thank you so much for your helpful reply. Sorry for the delay but I only just became aware of it, not getting any notifications elsewhere as we often do these days. I am so glad about your success and will follow the original advice now and give up those extra (expensive) Beta supplements.? If they are so effective, they will have done considerable good in the past fortnight anyway, and I can also go back to my normal sleep-helping tablets I had to avoid. I can always return to them if needed. May I please ask you another very minor question? Do you still use any cow's milk in your diet? As recommended, I have given up sugar (using Xylitol) and all dairy foods (I greatly miss my yogurt, cream, butter, cakes, biscuits, trifles, custards, etc.) but like milk in my tea and coffee, rather than plant-based. Not Doebucky, but I will add my two cents on this subject. Let's look at this locically. The cottage cheese is made with milk and we are supposed to add milk to get the desired consistency. Some even argue that it is required to add milk to the FO/CC for some mysterious "hydrogen bridge" which I know from personal experience is not the case. A tablespoon of milk in your coffee or tea is not going to kill you.

Mary Grace, I hope you don't mind me asking, what kind of lymphoma you had. And if you battled it from the start with the budwig diet.
I am dealing with follicular lymphoma.

Hi Ashley, I have diffuse large B-cell NH lymphoma. It is a fast and aggressive form, and I have outlived my expiration date by 9 years. Budwig was the first diet change I made, and I also used a Chinese herb called Oncolyn after my surgery to remove the initial tumor. I believe follicular lymphoma is a slower growing type, but they are all related, and Budwig will surely help to keep your body able to heal and regenerate well. All blessings to you ?? Many thanks Rod. I will mostly stick to plant-based milks (Almond, split pea, coconut, etc.) but, as you say, a little in tea/coffee a couple of times a day should not do much harm. Best regards, Malcolm
