Losing faith

I am laying awake in a state of panic.

My mom has that dry cough more often now and she is quite aware of it.

I noticed that my mom’s face is looking “dark”, not her normal color.

This evening I met a mutual friend who has stage 4 lung cancer and taking chemo drugs. She explained that her skin has darkened from the drug. Incidentally this is year three after her stage 4 diagnosis.

she was drinking wine and eating normal(meat and sweets). And she has not gained or lose weight in three years.

could it be that the protocol is working? Hence my mom is looking “worse “ and coughing more? Her energy level is down now, she would doze off after I massage her back in the morning instead of chatting with me.

After the Feb thoracenteses, the x ray in March showed expanded lung and a moderate/small fluid. Both the pulmonologist and PCP were excited. You would think with the excess fluid gone, she has room to eat more. But she does not have the appetite to eat and continues to weigh 114. While you may think that is normal BMI, my mom has never been at this weight and there is excess skin on her back and neck. It breaks my heart seeing that.

i Am sorry to vent here….but I do wanted the protocol to work it hurts.

when will I see the ‘turnaround’ ? Anyone experienced a downturn before major improvement?

Hi Julie,

Unfortunately, I have nothing worthwhile to contribute to your comment except to say how sorry I am to read of your situation. It must be hard to stay positive. I can only say I will keep your mum and yourself in my thoughts and prayers in the hope there is a turn-around soon. You mum sounds a battler.

Fortunately, my problems are relatively minor, being diagnosed with prostrate cancer 6 years ago. My PSA readings since have been, 3, 4.1, 7, 7, then 8.7 this year, but dropped back to 7.1 after being on the B.P. for just 4 weeks. So I hope things are going in the right direction as I have put a lot of faith in this diet. Fighting my severe depression has been my biggest challenge but I am slowly winning - with drugs help.

Please keep us informed. God Bless and Best Wishes from the UK.

Have a look on the ValAsta page on Facebook & the ValAsta testimonies page but keep the Budwig mix & ValAsta a couple of hours apart if you decide to try your mum on it.

My mother coughing more too...though I can't find her any cough medicine that does not have sugar/frutose or sorbitol etc.
It's not a productive cough at all and I am secretly hoping that she is doing so as her lungs continues to expand.

But looking at her face, her skin color is dark (much like someone I know going thro oral chemo) and at times yellowish. It's not good at all. I remember her looking similarly bad 4 years ago at the 2 month mark after starting Budwig. But this time, it's a 3 month (or 3.5 month mark)???

It's all very confusing and challenging. Thanks for all the kind folks that chimed in. Thank you Malcom. You are super kind.

I think you can buy pills that contain a cough suppressant – that might help.? Also, Olbas inhaler might help clear her throat.

Hi Julie

Fresh pineapple juice is said to relieve a cough. If you try it, juice the core too as it has the highest concentration of bromelain, the digestive enzyme which would also be very helpful to your mum.
Look online for different cough remedies including pineapple juice, you can add other healthy ingredients to it such as turmeric and raw honey.

Good luck, you are a wonderful daughter!
Best wishes
Julie, UK /Italy

Dear Malcolm

I’m very happy to read that you are doing well with the protocol.
There is some interesting research into the positive effects of flaxseeds on depression, so here’s hoping that you see good results both physically and mentally.

Best wishes

Thank you Julie. My depression has much improved in the last few weeks. It may be due to the BP being started 6-7 weeks ago, with the anti-depressant Citalopram being started about the same time, so cannot be sure which helped. TBH, I don’t really care as long as can get back to some normality. I plan to try getting weaned off the drug after a year or so but doubt I will drop the BP diet (going back to unhealthy foods/drinks) so I will then see if the diet does contribute to a healthy mental state. After my next blood test, I am very hopeful that my PSA level has continued to fall, thus proving the diet’s effectiveness. Best wishes. Malcolm

Hello S,

?

Thank you kindly for the reply and best wishes. I looked up Perform New Roots (reduces the prostate gland) and Moducare ?(boosts the immune system) with both available in the UK. I am currently taking Tamsulosin on free prescription through our National Health Service and it works to some extent (though usually up 4+ times nightly), such that I feel I am dependant on it to avoid catheter use. I would pay for using a supplements also if my doctor approves but would not know if things will improve further. There seems so many supplements available, it gets a bit confusing. I am inclined to firstly try Perform New Roots (and is much lower cost of the two) to judge the effect.

Best regards,

Malcolm

Dear Malcolm

Sorry to throw more info your way ( I know it can be overwhelming) but have you come across the herb "Saw Palmetto?"
I remember a discussion regarding SP in this group years ago and many men had found it helpful for benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer.? There are studies that suggest it can suppress tumour growth.?
There are cautions, if a person is taking blood thinning medication they cannot take Saw Palmetto. If you are interested in taking it, talk to your doctor first?

Best wishes
Julie,? Italy/ UK

I don't know if we can get true raw honey here. She is also diabetic so honey might spike her blood sugar. If this keeps up, I may ask her PCP to prescribe the medication (gel caps).

Thanks,

Hi Julie,

It is no problem. You are only trying to assist ?. Yes, I have been recommended Saw Palmetto by my local health store and am considering it. I am already taking Tamsulosin (aka Flowmax) prescribed free from my doctor and it does work to some extent. I checked to see if both were compatible if used simultaneously and it seems so. There seems to be some risks ( as with most medications) but low, I would think, if known about and used advisedly.

?

I think I will give it a try, it’s just that I am already taking so many treatments (Tamsulosin, anti-depressants, vitamins C, D, K2, turmeric, Tylenol, Beta 1,3D Glucan, CBD oil, asthma sprays, etc) I am hesitant. Still, if it can reduce my symptoms a little further, that is welcome. I take no medication that will clash with it.

?

Kind regards,

?

Best wishes

Malcom,

Try eating more tomatoes( cooked). Lycopene may help lower your PSA naturally,

I had been cooking for my mom and tomato is on the nightly menu. So my husband and I always have tomato cooked with leeks and garlic for dinner. He has high PSA which the doctor just shrugged off as old age and that number hasn’t changed in years, but eating tomato for three months, his PSA is down a bit. Mind you he is not eating a full portion each night since I love tomato and tend to eat a larger share.

I have different ways of preparing it as well, I cook with tumeric lemon grass paste and add coconut milk ( frozen) to take away some of the acidic taste and add green peas for extra protein and color.

Or just toss in to heat up with a bit of coconut oil and add a dash of soy sauce and black pepper.

Do try it. Lycopene has anti-angiogenesis property and we need to cut off the ability of creating new blood supplies so the tumor can’t grow.

Take care as always.
