Re: lowfat quark?

Lorenzo

We made the Quark or Cottage cheese from raw milk. I suspect if you try to
make it from pasteurized milk you may need a starter culture. We had a
response from Germany (Patrick) who said they make Quark from raw milk. On
the farm I lived on as a child we had our Cows tested for disease and we
drank the milk raw. I drank it while milking. It tasted so good that I
never liked pasteurized milk. Just buy cottage cheese from the store.
Also milk fat or butterfat is on the list of beneficial fats as it has a
little omega 3 in it. The bad fats are trans fats, and fats from grain
fed animals. Most low fat foods have too much added sugar.

Lorenzo,

That sounds so simple! I'll try it. But let me be sure I understand
this: is Quark the same thing as curd? I.e. the curd of skim milk =
low-fat quark?

I've been taking a tbs flaxseed oil with a quarter cup of quark
(which
I find delicious). I'm a little concerned about the high fat
content
of the quark and would like to substitute a low-fat kind if I could
find it. Can anyone assist me in this?

I know that walnuts are a strong source of Omega 3 fatty acid.

If there were any question, and a person did not want to use cottage
cheese,
it might be well to get Companion Nutrients from Nature's Distributors in
arizona and add a capsule per tablespoon of Flax Oil.

It could very well make the oil more effective. They are not expensive.
They are cheaper than cottage cheese.

I would question whether the nuts alone would provide the needed sulfur
based proteins.

I make it from pasteurized skim milk and I do NOT use a starter culture. All I do is put the organic skim milk in a pan when I get home from the grocery store, cover the pan, and let it sit for 48 hours. Then I slightly heat it which speeds up the separation of the curds and the whey, scoop it into a strainer to let it drip, pour off the whey, and refrigerate the cottage cheese/quark.

Re: FSO & Sulphur

Cliff Beckwith

Hi,

As I understand, there are three amino acids with sulfur bonds. Cottage
cheese, or "Clobbered milk", as Dr. Budwig calls it, has all three in good
supply.

There are other foods that do as well, but not in that concentration. Just
protein does not do it; it needs those three proteins.

I don't know how much of which protein goes into the whey.

Flaxseed oil and energy

I've noticed ever since I began taking flaxseed oil with quark and/or
cottage cheese (1 tbs to 1/4 cup twice a day) that I have more energy,
physical and mental, than I had before. A friend who began this
regimen recently had the same experience. IS this true of anyone else
here?

PROSTATE: GOOD NEWS ABOUT PIN
The same group has good news for men who have been diagnosed with
high-grade prostatic interepithelial neoplasia (or PIN). Such men are
often told that they are on the path to having outright prostate
cancer. However, scientists now say that men with this diagnosis have
no greater risk of future prostate cancer than those whose prostates
are non-malignant. Dr. Andre N. Vis, of Erasmus University in
Rotterdam, and colleagues evaluated 20,000 men who were screened
between 1994 and 2000. A total of 4,057 men underwent biopsies
(tissue samples) after they failed a screening test based on prostate-
specific antigen (PSA) or some other standard method.

According to the investigators' report in the August 1, 2001 issue of
Cancer, 23.6% of study participants were diagnosed with prostate
carcinoma, 2.6% with prostate biopsy suspicious for malignancy, and
0.8% with high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia. Among
patients who underwent repeated biopsy for intraepithelial neoplasia
within 6 weeks, 10.0% had prostate carcinoma. This rate was similar
to the 11.0% prostate carcinoma rate of men who underwent repeated
biopsy one year after an initial benign biopsy result. (Cancer
2001;92:524-534).

Prostate cancer is unlike most other cancers: most of the time it
does not metastasize or become life-threatening. A strategy
of "watchful waiting" (anticipatory management) may be appropriate
for you: ask your urologist or oncologist.

Be well all.

Cataract

Cliff Beckwith

Hi Jenny,

You may be interested to know that since the exam I have not failed to get
flaxseed oil into my eyes each night and and a little extra in the right
eye where the doctor said I had a dense cataract.

I had not realized that the cloudiness might be a cataract. Before I ever
had laser surgery Dr. Franklin told me there was a slight cataract there but
I had forgotten. I thought the whole thing was deterioration of the retina
where the laser had been used.

I do not know if this is wishful thinking, but I have to tell you what is
happening. This is the thirteenth day.

For several days I have felt that I was seeing some lettering on the TV that
was considerably smaller than the big "E" on the chart which was the only
thing I could make out on the exam.

This morning I found I could read quite a bit of the advertising messages on
TV with that eye.

Yesterday my wife went to the center for sight in Jefferson City to get her
glasses.

The office wasn't busy. The only one there was the technician. I can't
think of her name for a minute. I am sure that you know her.

Before we left I was telling her about the Flaxseed oil in one's eyes and
she put on the chart and yesterday I could make out the letters in the next
size smaller.

During the exam I couldn't see it at all.

This morning I got the Newspaper and I could read the headline caption of
every column on the front page with that eye.

The haze and shadow is still there but I think it is getting less.

When you told me that your aunt in Texas cleared cataracts with Flax Oil I
am wondering if she put it directly in her eyes?

If this situation continues to improve I will stop in briefly and have you
check it yourself.

Thank you so much.

Cliff Beckwith

Re: FSO & Sulphur

Cliff Beckwith

HI,

A retired professor of food technology and Biochemistry in our PCa support
group said that the sulfur based proteins are in the members of the cabbage
family.

I have some questions, however. In order to make the Omega 3 available to
the body, it needs to bond, or be mixed as much as possible, with the needed
sulfur based proteins.

I have read there are only three such proteins and all are in cottage
cheese.

I have no idea of how much cabbage, broccoli, or whatever would need to be
mixed with the cottage cheese.

Just some thoughts.

Cliff

How Many drops

Miz Judy & Mel

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

To your question: Here? in our household use one drop of flaxsed oil,?(usually per-eye)..and sometimes during the day, whenever the eyes begin to get tired. But I think I prefer it at bed time, because this is when the eyes can really get proper rest.

I assume it's already been posted, but I must have missed it.
How much are you putting in each eye??? A couple of drops?
And how often each day?? Just at bedtime?

Thanks,

Hi,

I am putting a drop in each eye. If I think I may have spilled some I add
more.
This is not a garaunteed procedure.

However, My wife went to pick up some glasses today, and the technician was
not busy. We went back and I tried just that eye on the same chart that I
tested on a couple of weeks ago and I could make out one size smaller
letters.

I don't know how much of that is wishful thinking, but I am going to keep
