I figured as much. They must have had an issue that took some time to sort out because they didn't have oil for quite a while. To their credit they refunded me entirely.

Flax seeds DO NOT need to be debittered! If a company is writing this to you, it is BS. If it tastes terrible, it is rancid. I press raw flax seed and it is never bitter.

Hi Rod,

Right now it tastes fine. As good as Piping Rock. I had switched to it for awhile; but tried PP again when supplies were available because they had a price advantage.

Joe, I have a question. I see Puritan's has oil again as you indicated. How is the flavor? When they stopped carrying it a while back it was right after I got a batch that tasted terrible. I thought it was rancid, but they said it was because the seeds weren't "de-bittered" prior to pressing. Regardless, they refunded me as I could not use it.

I've used both of them depending on availability. Puritan pricing is better. But last year they had a dry spell due to a problem with their supply chain. I haven't had a problem with them so far in 2024.

Quality is good with both companies in my view and both offer huge savings compared to Barlean's.

I used Piping Rock at first and it worked well. I switched to Puritan's because they have some really good sales, but then they stopped carrying flax oil recently. Back to Piping Rock ;)
