list. I currently am using 3000 mgs of Beta Glucan a day and 9000 mgs of time release vitamin C. I think I should be using Ester C and am going to as soon as the present supply runs out. I should know in a couple of days if this has had an effect on my PSA. Cliff Hi Cliff, the only published information I have read to support your suggestion, is that boosting the immune system through use of medicinal mushrooms or yeast beta glucan,. quickly depletes the body of Vitamin C. Once Vitamin C is depleted the immune system will no longer function in an activated state. Since in order to work at maximun capcity, it needs significant quantities (gramm amounts) of Vitamin C daily. Sure the average daily requirement for Vitamin C may be only 50 or 100 milligramms. But thats when the immune system is not activated. Once activated, many gramms a day of Vitamin C can be utilized by the immune system. If you dont get that extra Vitamin C, then the beta glucan will be alomst useless and the body will not respond. Taking glucan without Vitamin C is a waste of time and money. Research suggests glucan derived from medicinal mushrooms may benefit from Vitamin C even more than yeast glucan, through breaking up long molecules and assisting assimilation. If you dont take Vitamin C, and have a break from glucan therapy, then after some time the vitamin C supply in the body will be restored from ones diet. Then after a break, the glucan will be effective again for a day or two, untill all the Vitamin C is again depleted in the body and the glucan again stops working. moonbeam -----Original Message-----
