"Apple TV+ is premiering "Foundation," adapted from the Isaac
Asimov novels; FX will unveil the ambitious and long-gestating
"Y: The Last Man"; and HBO's "Thrones" prequel, "House of the
Dragon," will follow Westeros's messiest platinum blondes, the
Targaryen family. Our TV critic James Poniewozik looks ahead."

Too many streaming services.? Investors often demand that if
everyone else is doing then their company must too.? There's going
to be a shakeout soon.? People only want to spend so much on
streaming (been figured as low as $22 a month).?
And then we have the "free with ads" streaming services trend too.?
Unlike broadcast TV the trick there is fewer ads usually only around
5 minutes per hour.
Most of these companies need to book content and studios pitch to
them.? Exception might be Amazon where anyone can submit a video and
as long as it passes guidelines it is available on Amazon.? It's an
opportunity for new filmmakers to show their first movie and in a
few cases their series.
And skip the "read a book instead" refrain.? Many these days work at
a computer screen often reading text.? So looking at a screen across
the room can be more relaxing on the eyes than reading a book.? It's
all just media anyway.
