CA is Dry, but all 1000 miles of Beaches and their parking areas are Closed! I've experienced?excellent propagation in the past from on top?of the Bluffs overlooking the SoCal beaches.

No improvement. I'm going to try one more technique using a soldering iron. meanwhile, the replacement I ordered from Radioworld in the UK is "dispatched" to quote them! This was a very good deal as i stated before due to current exchange rates. I fear these displays will become scarce soon. Sending the display back to Yaesu for repair would likely have cost double what I paid factoring in including shipping each way to Yaesu. The link to the replacement is in my previous post - I'll let all know how that turns out.

Too bad Howard,
I guess I just got lucky with mine.
That's the problem with success in one instance.
The results are somewhat anecdotal unless others can verify..
Good luck with the soldering iron.?

Update to make you all feel better.. or maybe not.?
My zebra stripes came back and I tried to fix it and was not successful. It is better but not back to normal. So I bought the display board.. They have lots in stock according to Beatriz at Yeasu.?
$180.00 plus s&h.. easy come easy go.?

And finally I replaced the display board. There is a 4 pin cable that goes between the volume and squelch control and the display board that was a pain. The connector is the kind that plugs into the pc board with barbs that spread out as its inserted. I ended up cutting the 4 wires and soldering them to the new board without the connector.??
It works!? Hopefully the last time i have the display apart.

Hello,
I got 5 zebra stripes too. Today I opened the radio and by the way of SMD technic, using a small soldering iron and flux liquid, I refreshed as in a picture above is indicated in a square red box telling to "reflow these". I think to have done a very good job as you can see in the pictures I made.?
Unfortunately after powering on again the radio now I got 8 zebra stripes instead of 5. No lucky. The core of the problem should be there around but not exactly there I guess...
I will try something different next time.
Thank you.

Good try Marco,

You have to have good eye sight and a steady hand to tackle this repair.

?

I purchased a replacement screen, still a bit of soldering and it was a success.
