YT-100 Tuner Failed (apparently) - Need replacement Cable

Dennis Yard

Hello all,

It looks like the Radio to Tuner DIN 8 pin cable is broken.

Can anyone advise a replacement?? ?I think DX Engineering has one but wanted to verify its a correct replacement for the shorty which comes with the tuner.?

There is a fuse in the radio that will blow if you don't hook up to the tuner correctly and the tuner won't tune ( If you are powering the tuner thru the cable from the radio's 13.8v) when its blown! My friend blew his while trying to use 2 devices in series..Tuner +? ( I can't remember what ) , Fuse F1001 (3.15A) in the 13.8 v line Pin 1 of the Cat /Linear plug. The Fuse is very small and hard to get at, Just power the Tuner externally that worked for my friend !

Ron,

After troubleshooting, I think you might be right.? ? I found a bent pin on the cable which may have shorted out the input voltage.??

Trying another cable yielded no power up of the tuner either.? ?Also tried another tuner with no power up.

Time for an RMA to have it looked at.?

Im not so sure i want to fool with the tuner and smoke it too.?

Ron,

You were spot on!? It was the chip fuse.? ?I had terrific service from Yaesu in Los Angeles.? ? ?
Sent it in on July 19 and got it back fixed on August 16th.? ?VERY reasonably priced as well.?
Radio and YT-100 tuner work just fine again.?
They didn't even reset my programming.? ?All the memories are still there.?
