CAT cable recommendations

I turn to the hive mind here — what’s the most popular cable? Will the RT Systems cable work with their programming software AND serve as a CAT cable with HRD? Thanks. Jonathan Burchmore All Messages By This Member #52687 I can confirm that the RT systems Yaesu-specific cable will work, and is likely the best option. A warning: generic cables, and cables for other radios, such as Kenwoods, with the mini-DIN connector may connect the 13.8V pin to ground, blowing the SMD fuse on the board and making it impossible to power a tuner or other accessory. ?I experienced this on both my 897 and 857. ?You can (sort of) get away with it on an 817/818 because they use a current limiting resistor instead of a fuse, but it's best to use a Yaesu-specific cable. It is compatible with the FT-8x7 series radios and provides both CAT control and sound card interface for FT8 and other data modes. I've been using it with the FT-897 and FT-950 to good success. It comes with the USB cable to connect to the computer along with a cable for the CAT control and one for data.
