Hi J.D. I may be interested in a nice FT857 depending on cost. I'll be taking my Tech and General exams in Feb. I can easily pass the online practice exams so I'm ready. I want something that I can take in the field while camping and operate on HF. I'm also considering the FT-817/FT-818 QRP rigs. Having the extra power of the 857 when needed might be nice though. I'm open to suggestions on the subject.
I'll most likely experiment with and build my own dipole's to start. Both as a learning experience and cost savings as I start off in this hobby. I already have a few portable power sources including controlled solar chargers. Living in New Mexico means lots of sunshine for solar projects. |
These belong to Bob Perry W%CL. His email is W5CL@.... On Sun, Jan 10, 2021 at 9:58 PM Tom G. via <tom_greenli=[email protected]> wrote: Hi J.D. I may be interested in a nice FT857 depending on cost. I am looking for the mobile mounting bracket for an FT-857 I purchased a used one from a guy who said it was complete in the original box but as they say close but no cigar, the radio is in good condition and works fine but it was missing the manual(which I down loaded) and the mobile mounting bracket so if anyone has and extra or one they won't use I would be pleased to take it off your hands. Thanks in advance 73's Troy ke4ska
