I looked up the license number and it comes up as Roberto Miranda and just because he's a tech doesn't mean he doesn't have enough money to buy the stuff in the first place. There's any number of reasons he might be selling his gear not the least of which is he's jut tired of it. Look him up and send a snail mail to check if it's for real or not. I'm looking up his name on Facebook and checking with 3 people of that name on the theory that it can't hurt to make sure. |

Seriously Chris? This is a classic scam. Very obvious.? Steve KA9MOT?

开云体育?Scam comes up every so often. Lots of high end stuff and want to get out of the hobby. Almost always an Elecraft in the mix. Have reasons not to take Paypal. Make a better deal if you deal direct. Send them the bank account info or charge card info and watch your account get drained. They might take a wire transfer. Lose your money. Then be too embarrassed to let anyone know you got scammed. Sure techs buy lots of radios they are not entitled to use then quit the hobby every day and sell them off for a great loss. Yeah it could be real but I'll guarantee your better off buying a lottery ticket and spending your winnings on new equipment. Your chances at a million or so to one are better than getting your dream radios from this scam. I hear police dispatches every day on a scanner about scams. Often its elderly but many are people who expect something for nothing. The smart ones call the police before parting with money. The gullible never get their money back. [email protected] to gullible list, check! This same scam had been sent through this list before with the exact same pattern.?? 1 pick a tech license to imitate that has little or no online presence 2. set up a legitimate looking email via Gmail, Yahoo, ect. 3. Gain access to any radio related email lists they can. 4. Spam all email lists with the "barn find of the century". 5. Hope 1 gullible implusive ham will actually "buy" this equipment. 6. Abandon email account and close whatever account the money was transferred to. 7. Start process over with "new" credentials.. I work in the security sector and there is no need in contacting the actual owner of this call sign because this conversation will lead to words like "my license is still valid?" or "I forgot about that license I applied for 8 years ago and have never used" or any number of other "I'm not interested in ham radio anymore" comments you can think of. |
开云体育You’re spot on, except that #5 should be “1 or more.” ?The?imaginary?equipment can just as easily be sold multiple times. No reason to disappoint the second or third willing buyer.???-Les W6VN On Oct 16, 2018, at 2:59 PM, J Davidson ki4rca@... [FT-857] <FT-857@...> wrote:

Just to be sure I'm clear, I meant to physically visit the location of the seller and see the equipment in operations. Also, paypal is my friend. LOL? One other thing to check is the seller's feedback. If they have very few or a lot of negatives I would steer clear. If they have a lot of feedback and all or only 1 out of hundreds that are negative I would probably chance it. People do quit hobbies from time to time. LOL I'm going to put my model airplanes up for sale as a "lot" soon, I'm not able to fly them any longer due to a neck injury. It is what it is and I have a LOT of stuff. |
开云体育That’s the thing about these scammers, they advertise by posting to various mailing lists. They don’t use one of the classified listings like where there is a history and buyer/seller feedback. Not that there aren’t scams on , but when you see an ad posted to several mailing lists but not the classifieds sites, it’s almost certainly a scam.???-Les W6VN On Oct 18, 2018, at 11:44 AM, chris.buyer@... 开云体育The QRZ buying and selling isn’t what it’s cracked up to be I bought a 101EE from a guy it got here and would only put out 20 W and had some switch on the front underneath I had no idea what it was for the seller left me no instructions and to pay $350 for a not working Radio sure burn me so needless to say my QRZ buying days are done at least with PayPal you can open a case and maybe get your money back or return the item? 开云体育And before everybody has a comment to make I was very green first couple weeks into the ham program had just gotten my license so I really didn’t know what to do about the defective product. At the time I didn’t have a call sign because I had taken the test but didn’t get the results yet and I’m going back more than five years On Oct 18, 2018, at 11:02 PM, Les Niles les@...
