I was running backpack portable with my 857d and I think my antenna may have been too closely coupled to my cw key. ?Anyway, the cw key no longer works, and the Keyer mode will only send dashes. ?I am going to check for continuity between Q1049 pins 19 and 20 (dot and dash) and the chassis key jack, and I’m hoping that I didn’t fry the Q1049 dot input! If so; Is this a component that can be replaced?

I wouldn’t think the 25 watts out in battery mode would be much to worry about on 40m through 10 meters, no one else in the park would go near me during my live reports of the solar eclipse!

The DOT and DASH inputs on the FT857 are in series with some 1K (or maybe 10 Ko, I don't remember) resistors that are on the back of the board, but are very small. These break because they immediately have a 0.1uF (or 0.001 uF ...) capacitor to ground. I put some bigger ones (also SMD). Mine broke one by one, a few months apart ...
