Re: Noise sucks
Do you have the S9 reading on one specific band or multiple bands? I ask because I'm having similar noise issues but mostly on 40/20. Andrew, KD5CQ

Dan, NM3A, I'll try those settings in the morning and get back to you. NR (noise reduction) setting (menu 049) and NB (noise blanker) setting (menu 063) previously only had the effect of muddying the

Vic, WA4THR, I did due diligence concerning battery operation and examine the mains. I did get some results but not nearly as much improvement as I had hoped for. The Clearspeech or CLRdsp devices are

I feel your pain. I am in a HOA here in FL. I use my 891 for POTA and backyard ops. But I have powelines running through my back yard so my noise floor is high 24/7. So I too operate mobile with the

Re: Noise sucks
Of couse, the best is to locate the source and eliminate it. Some LED lamp supplies can be pretty bad, but it could be anything. You can try shutting off circuits one at a time while running the 857

Re: Noise sucks
At one time, I lived in a basement apartment, I didn't have ANY sort of antenna. I Bought an ATS-120 and a mount, installed it in my car and did my radio hobby from the car, not ideal, but I had fun.

Re: Low AM sensitivity.
Actually, even smaller is the "flip-chip" diodes such as HSCH9251. They are used up to 300 GHz. They are 7 mils long. You can't solder them - you're not supposed to. Instructions state the solder will

Re: Low AM sensitivity.
I did the same thing once but it was R1426. Lost FM which was working fine before I changed all 3 filters. Those are 0402 resistors which are VERY small (only 0201 is smaller).

Re: Low Speaker Volume 857-D
Funny. I just reinstalled my FT-857D in a newer truck. My screen was all zebra stripes. The audio was so low. I check wires and swapped external speaker. I checked the switch on the control head.
