Yes, be careful not to break the plastic backing. It's blue in most cases.

Re: 80 MTR reciving problem #noice
If you were to temporarily short the antenna the noise should disappear (almost completely) 80 meters is pretty noisy most places and could be made much worse of you are in an urban area with cheap

Re: 80 MTR reciving problem #noice
Dear Barron When the ant. is disconnected the noise is less. I feel it might be a propagation problem. Is the ceramic filter common for all bands and separate for each band. ? Will the antenna

Re: 80 MTR reciving problem #noice
Unless that noise is still there with the antenna disconnected, I'd look for some local source such as a computer, wall-wart power supply or appliance.? Run your radio off 12vdc and start turning off

Re: 80 MTR reciving problem #noice
If the radio is still noisy without the antenna connected the ceramic filters are cheap and not too difficult to replace, but you have to remove the main board to get at the bottom to unsolder them.

Check the noise level without the antenna. Sometimes the ceramic filters get noisy.

Re: Recently developed fault
No matter the blocking caps, I suggest the filters are the culprit Theo as those devices are quite inexpensive, and often fail in spite of blocking caps for some reason in some rigs.? Regards, Phil /

Re: Recently developed fault
Try shorting the antenna connector and see what the noise sounds like. Randy (KE5EOT) ARRL, QCWA, ARES, RACES, ROWH http://ke5eot.webs.com

Re: Recently developed fault
In my uneducated opinion, I doubt it's the filters. I had those replaced about 6 years ago, with DC blocking caps fitted at the same time. Regards Theo

Re: Recently developed fault
It may be the ceramic filters "cracks noise" because of moisture inside of them. https://dh1tw.de/replacing-yaesu-ft857-if-filters/ 73's A segunda, 27/06/2022, 10:44, Theo Marinos
