Re: Power loss
Check the voltage at the radio as stated above, but set your meter to read the ALC and see if that value changes and also the SWR. In the radio the ALC voltage controls the power of the output and

Phil, K4PO? Thanks for the suggestion, I haven't checked voltage but will monitor it as I transmit and see if I can learn anything.? In the meantime, I will check all connections and fuse.? I

Re: Power loss
Willard, The first thing that comes to mind is the 12VDC power reaching the radio is falling off as you transmit.? This is often caused by power line fuse corrosion or other poor connection.? The

Re: Removing Static (lightning) crashes
Best idea! One RX on desired frequency and the other on near-by frequency with no signal - just static crashes! One antenna. Simply mix the audio 180 degrees out of phase. Should be "easy" with SDR

Re: Removing Static (lightning) crashes
Interesting "what if" question. It would probably work detecting "digital signal" . Say using CW and detecting start - from "off" to "on"? and then "stop" from "on" to "off" , and regenerating (

Re: 857D not getting switched on
It came on automatically. This problem was earlier also. It will not get switched on sometime. so keep the power supply on then after some time it functions as normal. Use to take short time for this.

Re: 857D not getting switched on
So you've got the head plugged in properly, and the data cable is in the right place? You've not left a programming lead plugged in have you? And you've got 12v power going to the radio? Checked all

Re: SLIGHT drift on 40M - Ideas?
The drift might have been some slight tension or dirt in the tuning knob tension assembly pulling the knob slightly. My radio mobile will change frequency with vibration of the car if the tension

Re: SLIGHT drift on 40M - Ideas?
UPDATE: The drift seems to have been a fluke. I've been monitoring several times, two hours at a time and the radio is rock solid. Even off overnight and watching for the first two hours after turn on
