I haven't had a 857 for a few years and didn't use mine as a dual bander, but was thinking that maybe the squelch is set too light. Add a little more and see how that works. K3CLT Chuck Tobias

Doesn't matter, in FM mode it will always work as Squelch....

If you can hear the repeater, you will hear a squelchtail, quite often, depends on the repeater.Your squelch control wont get rid of it. The squelchtail is as strong as the repeater signal.Bob

Check the power cord for corrosion anywhere, especially inside the fuse holders.? Remove the fuses and clean each contact surface thoroughly.? Do same with coax connections.? Long term mobile

Nothing happens. I can be talking to someone and they will start asking if I'm still on frequency. The radio acts normal but no one hears me. When hooked up to a dummy load it acts like it should work
