I recently picked up a MFJ-929 tuner to use with my IC-706. It came with the cable for my FT-857 so I was going to use it instead of my YT-100. I currently use a USB to CAT cable to control the rig with HRD since my current tuner has a CAT pass thru port. Has anyone had any experience with using a splitter to run both the CAT and tuner off of the rear CAT port? Is it even possible? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Re: AM Broadcast Stations Distorted - Found IT!
Gents,
Thanks so much for your suggestions. ??
I just found out that the RF Gain was not right for the AM broadcast signal level.? I must have adjusted it during SSB operations, when moving from FM repeater ops.?
What led me to the solution was that the signal got a bit clearer when I activated the Attenuation button.? So I went and adjusted RF gain and got it right again. ?

Re: 857 stopped powering up; NOT a 12v source issue
Jason, I've had this with mine as well.? One instance was a sketchy fuseholder (the inrush current I-squared-R loss dropped the input voltage below 11.5VDC). Was the car running and VDC > 13 VDC at the radio? Second instance was a bad remote interface cable between the head and the pan. when the control head was connected with the pan using the short cable, it worked fine.? I replaced the longer remote cable with a hunk of cat-5.? Been working fine ever since. Good luck! 73, Mike N5MJ
