If it is a “D” model, yes, they are allocated in the memories.. If not a “D” model, as Unni has stated, the TX will need to be opened by way of the mods.

Re: Looking for a photo of the bottom side of of the PCB under filters
I compared the pcb with the filter mod, and that somebody previously had attempted the mod, cut traces, 1 cap in place, not the 2nd, nor the resistor. The really strange part to me was that the pads for filters did not look origional, so I have to believe that when the mod was done somebody replaced with the same TOKO parts, which from the exterior surface showed signs of the issue and when the came apart showed signs internally of issues.?? New filters installed, new SMT cap kit ordered, looks like it will be a project next weekend.

That small cap is likely a user inserted DC blocking cap that is recommended for the 857 filters that have a history of being destroyed by DC to filter.? This is a Yaesu design fault.?? Many 857s have had filters replaced over time where to repair tech added the cap to prevent a repeat performance if U will.?? Regards, Phil / K4PO ? ? |

开云体育Mike, Heil normally color codes their microphone to rig connectors as Yellow = Yaesu, Blue = ICOM, & Red = Kenwood for the popular rigs.? Hope that info helps.? Phil / K4PO ? ? |
Looking for a photo of the bottom side of of the PCB under filters
I replaced the 3 filters this evening, one of the filters had a small cap and a jumper wire, needless to say I did not take photos before I started on the bottom side of the board.? I'm hoping somebody might have a photo for reference, other wise I'm spending my Saturday comparing the board to the schematics to see if it was OEM or somebody elses mod .... |
Re: Identifying Heil Headset ??
...now that I think about it, this headset can't be for the 857 since the 857 uses an RJ connector. Duh !!

Must be for my TS-850S/AT or my Flex 5K. Kinda nervous about just plugging it in for fear of smoking something. In case you are wondering, I'm digging thru layers of accumulated "good stuff" trying to thin the herd. Gotta figure out what I have before I can start thinning though! Identifying Heil Headset ??
Greetings All,
? I have what I "believe" is a Heil single earpiece, boom mic headset for the 857 but am not sure. Description is: Single earpiece with oval (not round) cushion Red stripe on headpiece just above mic/earpiece swivel Mic connector is 8 pin with a 1/4 inch phone plug on about 12 inches of brown wire About 6 inches above mic connector is a 1 x 2 x 3/8 PTT/Up/Down button box Mic housing is about 1 inch long and cone shaped Ring any bells for anyone or is there somewhere I can look up identifying features? Thanks, Mike / W8DN |
Re: FT-857D Problem
Hi Handford: I played with the 3 menu settings that I mentioned and no change. I am going to wait till warmer weather is upon us as right now around -20 F and even colder with the wind chill. My next step will be to take my laptop out and save all the menu values along with all the freqs programmed in. That in itself should prove the CAT Port good or bad. Then I will do a complete reset of the radio and then adjust the 3 menu items and try the tune button, hopefully I will make progress. Then if I get progress I will upload the freqs etc back into the radio and see what happens. This might take a few days due to our cold snap. Tnx. 73 De Mike VE3YF |

开云体育Hi MikeI have the same setup as you but I have a Little TARHEEL ll I leave the radio in SSB and then when you push the tune button the turbo tuner keys the radio and the ant will tune to the frequency you have set. If you still have trouble email me off list with your phone number I will work with you to get it going. ?I love my turbo tuner I have one of the first ones made. ?I bought it at the Orlando Hamcation from the inventor. I also have the first turbo tuner for the Yeasu FT-450 in fact he borrowed my FT-450 to build it. ? Hi: Just finished installing the FT-857D with a Turbo Tuner 2 and a Tarheel M200A-HP antenna in my 2018 Nissan Rogue. I have run into a problem that I have hopefully narrowed it down to the FT-857D as having a problem. As per the Turbo Tuner 2 Manual I have set the following in the 857D Menu: Menu 19 at 4800 Baud Menu 20 at Tuner Menu 85 at Tuner Turbo tuner dip switches are set properly and cables are all hooked up according to the manual. I have put the rig into CW mode at 10w Press Tune (A) and nothing seems to happen. At this point the Rig should engage the Turbo Tuner 2 and start moving the antenna either up or down. This is not happening. I have verified the Antenna and the Antenna control are working by using the Tarheel Switch and checks out ok. I am stumped as to why the radio and tuner will not go into tune mode. Perhaps I am missing something. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Tnx. 73 De Mike VE3YF |
