Re: Replacing TOKO Ceramic IF Filters
I bought my FT-857 new and have never had the filter problem. It manufacturer info is: July 2003 Lot 10 #192 in lot 10 So it is not one with the problem rather one that had not had the problem (yet) Pat, WA3UOE On Sat, Mar 19, 2022, 1:17 AM Tony <73GUDDX@...> wrote:

Re: 440 no transmit power
The manual is available in several places on internet as a PDF file, free download. This is where I downloaded it: Zack W9SZ On Mon, Mar 21, 2022 at 5:16 PM Jeremy via <kd4kzz=[email protected]> wrote:

440 no transmit power
I got this ft-857d in 2020 second hand. I only started using this radio this year and I know the 440 Mhz band worked at least initially as I had a simplex QSO with a ham a few blocks away. Then I started to try to hit the repeater and got sporadic reports. Then I quit seeing anything on the power meter when in transmit. I finally got a VHF/UHF wattmeter (45 years and never had/needed one) and it confirms no power output on 440 Mhz band. Oddly enough it must be pushing out some power because I can hear myself on my handheld on the next table over. I tried both simplex and with repeater offset there is no noticeable power out. At 14.1V in when I key down the voltmeter on the display drops to 13.2V
Is there a service schematic and troubleshooting procedure to figure out what has failed? I used to work on building/fixing radios/electronics and TVs back in the 70s when I first got my ticket but I haven't worked on these modern ones.? Barring not finding any info does anyone work on the FT-857d other than Yaesu? I've heard Yaesu service has recently been taking months to turn a fix around.? |

Filters ?
Hello all. I have an FT857. It is quite noisy, on rx, even with the antenna
disconnected. Is this an indication of the ceramic filter problem? (In RF not
SQLCH mode) Or, just what is the give away for this problem. My FT817 has a
better rx noise figure so, hence the question.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHoward:
The FT-857D is being serviced at this
time so I don't have it in my possession. However, the FT-897D I
recently purchased has a date code of July 2007 and it has the
same ceramic filter issue. The rig was essentially new in the box
with the sticker attached to the display so it was never used. It
seems the defective filters degrade over time whether the rig is
used or not.
I contacted Yaesu about the ceramic
filter issue and the tech said he wasn't aware of the problem -- I
find that hard to believe.

here you have some pic when i replaced filters on my 897 and also the VFO I also made the filter mod, to, as it said, protect the filter against this issue. I had not much tools for making this. now i would be better with my IR station. 73s Olivier F4FQH -----Message d'origine-----

Thanks for taking the time to send the
parts list. Will give Yaesu a call tomorrow. It looks like these
are not manufactured by TOKO so they shouldn't have the same
issues.

Order then from Yaesu. They are very inexpensive at less than a dollar each.
