I am "loosing" repeater offset
After initially setting and successfuly testing 440 MHz repeater access I subsequently loose the "offset" setting.
The little and hard to see -+ sign above "O" of "VFO" just goes away. Mostly and at random (?) when I turn the power off / on. The "offset" is set / alternate by pushing "RPT" .? Since these mini sign are hard to read I also check? the main frequency display and it SHOULD change on transmit. Is there option / setting I have missed to have the "offset" permanently? per frequency ? |
Re: Lost RF in middle of Tune

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI alwsys start at the beginning. First, take the tuner out of line. Hook the radio to awatt meter and dummy load. Put it in the AM mode. With your power set to maybe ten watts. Key it. You should see 10 watts and 1:1 swr. If you do, the radio works, you may have a tuner, or antenna problem.? What antenna are you using, is it possible your antenna just isnt being "tuned" by the tuner, that it is just way off? Re: Lost RF in middle of Tune
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDoug, have you resolved your LDG tuner issue? ?My LDG AT-200Pro (connected to my 857D) has a similar malady. ?It has not been used for a while and I thought the relays might suffer from not being used but I can hear them click when I manually tune with the C UP / C Dn / L Up / L Dn buttons. ?No output on a cross-needle SWR / power meter. ?Antenna is a 135¡± dipole fed with 450 ohm and is tunable using another rig (KX3).Bill K4YJJ?

Lost RF in middle of Tune
I have my 857D hooked up into a YT-100 LDG tuner.? Now, when ever I try to tune on freq, I dont hear the relays clicking anymore and the the LED on the LDG flashes 4 times.? According to the manual that means that RF was lost in middle of tune.? So does that mean my finals are out in my radio?? Or something else?? Help.

Re: FT857D Replacement Panel Screen
I ordered from Radio World. Excellent customer service and received quickly to Virginia (by way of CA for customs inspection). Yes, desoldering the 4-pin connection was troublesome - I am not very good at soldering/desoldering. I went ahead and ordered replacement 4-pin connectors and the Pot/PC board assembly from Yaesu (pictured). The 4-Pin connector connects from the replacement board to the AF/Squelch Pot assembly. The pot assembly is easily removed from the face-plate with the typical knob retaining nut. Here are the Yaesu part numbers:
Description? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Item ID? ? ?? ? ? ?Notes Wire Assembly AH007M? ? ? ? ? ? T9207024? ? ? ? 4-pin wire assembly with connectors VR-UNIT? ? ? ? ? AH007M00? ? ? ? CS2592101? ? ? AF/Squelch Pot with integrated PC board? Yes, I ordered several spares knowing how bad I am at soldering...but it went very well.? In this view - the ground connection is all the way to the right and is noted by a line next to it. Likewise, on the replacement screen board - the same - ground noted by a line. I connected with the yellow going to the ground connections. If you look closely at the attached parts diagram - there is also a foam "Sponge Rubber" border that goes between the screen and the case - I ordered that too and used alcohol to remove the old adhesive from the window. The parts were inexpensive and the entire transaction was conducted via email with b.velarde@... I 'killed her with kindness' and received relatively prompt replies and responses - but not much in the way of friendly dialog! No complaints! With these replacement components - the screen replacement is super easy! I agree - seating the display board assembly back into the panel requires a bit of finesse but take it slowly and it will snap/pop into place. The 2 screws will properly seat the board and ensure the Select pot/knob works properly. Hope this was helpful, 73, Howard, WZ4K ![]()

Re: Fuzzy white stuff on TOKO A55GV
I hadn't used my 857 for a few years and noticed constant static after powering it up. Sure enough, the 3 ceramic filters had the white crusties. I sent the radio to Yaesu in Cypress, California and they replaced the filters for less than $75 for parts and labor and about $25 for shipping. I bought a set of the filters to do the job myself but after watching a couple of YouTube videos on someone actually doing the work, I decided I wasn't confident enough in my soldering skills around surface mount parts to do the job myself. I also had them do a tune-up while they had it. The turn-around time was about 3 weeks due to the virus. Well worth the price to have it done by the experts. The radio works great now.

Re: Scanning HF frequency standards of WWV.
You can¡¯t really ¡°scan¡± the WWV time signals since the scan would stop on the first one that breaks squelch and stay there, usually 10MHz. You could configure Scan Resume (menu 077 and 078) to let the scan continue but this would apply to all scanned channels which may not be desirable. Even so, do you really want to listen a few seconds of every received WWV channel every scan cycle through your channels?
I have all the WWV frequencies in consecutive channels and set them to NOT scan. When I am interested in propagation I just manually scroll through the channels. Of course, if your antenna is a screwdriver or requires a tuner, all of the WWV frequencies may not be in your receive bandwidth without retuning for each. Add to your frequency list 20MHz and 25MHz which are also being broadcast by WWV (and have been below propagation MUF the past few days). Peter |

Scanning HF frequency standards of WWV.
Before you continue to read this _ I did not spent much time RTFM,
so if it is there , please -? just say so and post a reference to page(s). ? What I know I can scan SPECIFIC band for presence of signal , setting SQL etc... Can I setup a scan of standard WWV? frequency signals? - 2.5MHz / 5MHz /10MHz /15MHz ? |
