Simple breakdown of the Yaesu code is below:
?Position 1 = year made
?Position 2 = month made
?C = January
?D = February
?E = March
?F = April
?G = May
?H = June
?I = July
?J = August
?K = September
?L = October
?M = November
?N = December
?
Position 1 = last digit of the year in which the radio was produced
Position 2 = month made
Pos 3 &/or 4 = lot number(s)
Pos 5<-8 = sequence in that lot
Example - My FT897D 4H370xxx would translate to:
4 = 2004
H = June
37 = Lot number 37

I was only concerned with the lip mount on the Subaru. I have a lip mount on my outback hatch with dual band vhf/uhf sntenna but it doesnt seem secure enough for my Hustler 75 meter center loaded whip, not to mention my Hi Sierra motorized 80-10 antenna! Those go on the trailer hitch.

Ross at Strictly Ham put me onto them and the guy he put me onto was Guy, but I don’t remember the name of the company. ? OK, disregard the above, I just found the invoice. ? I got the part from Radioworld today. It was ordered on the 14. They sent it UPS in a box that would hold a suit. Had a little trouble installing it. Hardest part was de soldering the plug. In order to put the new part back in the case you have to wriggle it a bit. Seems to work OK now. Bruce wd9ghk

Hi Jason,? Been a while since your post, but did you ever find the real problem?? I have had mine to a couple of repair sites >$200 and the problem persists.? Works fine for days then won't turn on or I turn on the PS and it cycles then goes off with no turn on after.? Damn annoying.
I was hoping someone figured out how to override the turn on sequence to a single stroke,,,,,? Would be nice.
