I was able to loosen the screws based on Ted's reply (Thanks Ted).? However, the Larsen replacement whip is slightly "thicker" and I can't insert it in the top of the Atas.? Any suggestions.? I can grind the whip slightly or drill the Atas hole slightly.? I'm leaning towards the drill unless that's an issue.

Can guess at the size, 2.5 to 4mm. I replaced my whip years ago with an "as-is out of the package" Larsen VHF whip, lost V/UHF which I didn't use at the time but the HF just seemed a bit better and if you want to keep V/UHF, trim the Larsen whip.
Oh, if you have one of the Comet or Diamond you may have the correct sized Allen key.
