As I recall it was much earlier CHIRP versions that wrote the EEPROM and risk bricking the FT-857D and perhaps the FT-897D as well.? Have no knowledge of HRD causing any such problem.? At the time this surfaced CHIRP quickly modified their app to correct the memory write algorithm.?
Regards, My FT847D manufacture date is in the first "D" model batch and still ticking without performance problem.? It does have one pixel wide vertical streak on the screen at cold boot that disappears after thorough warmup.? ?May all have an enjoyable Thanksgiving celebration, Phil / K4PO?
