Re: Baud Rate For APRS #aprs

While you are looking at Device Manager, unlpug the USB cable from the TT4. One of those COM ports should go away. Plug the USB cable back in and it should come back. That will verify which one is correct.

Ignore the RF baud rate, that will always be 1200. There should be a baud rate selection associated with the COM port choice. Start with 19200 (default for TT4). If you are seeing lights blinking on the TT4 corresponding with APRS traffic heard, then your radio and TT4 should be okay. It's just the computer=TT4 connection you need to work on.

When I go to Device Manager I show a com 4 and 5.? Both are listed as 9600 baud.? When I go to APRS-IS software it shows com 3 and com 4, so I assume com 4 must be it.? I set Device to com 4 and 9600 baud.? The RF baud rate is greyed out and is 1200 baud.? I assume that is what the radio must be at so I set the Packet rate at 1200 baud.
Currently I can hear APRS traffic on the radio.? When that happens I see the lights flashing on the TT4 but nothing is making it to APRS-IS or www.APRS.fi <>? if I go out to my car and beacon tx on my Yeasu FTM400-XDR.
What am I missing?? Also, what mode does the radio need to be in?? I currently have it in FM mode.? Does it need to be in Packet mode? Thanks for the discussion!
