Thx Leonard, nope that wasn¡¯t it. Found it tonight - wasn¡¯t the radio.
My feed line was close to 60¡¯ - this is too close to the quarter wave
dipole I had up (130¡¯) . I added 20¡¯ to the ladder line and then it
would tune.

?Sure you don't have the antenna connections reversed on the tuner?
Only having reflected power usually indicates they are reversed.

Hi, ±õ¡¯±¹±ð just set up a doublet with ladder line to a MFJ Versa III
Tuner to my 857D. ±õ¡¯±¹±ð adjusted the tuner to the ¡°loudest sound¡±,
about
S7 on 20M. Next step is to transmit on low power and fine tune.
Problem, no matter what I set the RF gain to I¡¯m only seeing 5-10W
out
on the tuner meter and it¡¯s all reflected. On the radio when I
transmit, the SWR looks to be around 2-3, power under 50% (with
radio
RFgain set to 100W).
I¡¯m receiving fine, I live in Ontario EN94np and picking up brothers
in
the US clearly. Do you think there¡¯s a setting on the radio that
±õ¡¯±¹±ð
missed to make it work with the external balanced line tuner (I¡®ve
played with menu item 085). Thanks in advance.
