For many years I have never fused my radios with the exception of those installed in a vehicle which I fit with a fuse in both positive and negative lines.

My radios are normally used in the bush (forest) and have a 1M cable to a lead acid battery, a fuse is pointless in this situation.

However if you run your radio inside a house and especially if its wiring is concealed then one fuse is sensible.
