It would be nice to continue TECHNICAL discussion without commentaries such as this "Its not unusual for many to not understand this and why."
In the spirit of learning and not preaching , if I may continue here.
1. Give an example how this can occur , given we are still talking about single amateur radio installed in a vehicle.?
"another high current circuit opens for some reason and finds its way back to the battery through the radio and wiring."
2. Assuming that the rig in NOT isolated? from the vehicle (ground)? - fusing negative lead is relatively superfluous - it is? better and (another) KNOWN and main? path to the battery negative terminal. And if such? negative fuse blows - where woudl be the path to the negative battery terminal then ??
3. Connecting the positive lead as close as to the positive battery terminal (UK rule) AND fusing it with BETTER? fuse holder is the solution here.
