Old thread. I also have a Japanese FT-857. The MARS mod 888I88III does not unlock anything. Actually removing the zero ohm resistor at at position 3 (fornt front to back) makes me loose WIDE RX on V/H.
Did anyone get his Japanese rig opened up for TX on the upper segments V/H? I need TX in the upper segments in order to be able to use repeater in my country (CE).
