Day Garwood

Hey there,
How's everybody doing in these uncertain times?
Just thought I'd introduce myself and say hi.
I've been researching my family history for about 15 years, and I've found a lot of connections in Norfolk, mostly from my mum's family.
My grandma's family, the Garwoods, seem to have been landowners in areas around Thurlton, Norton Subcourse, Raveningham, and possibly Haddiscoe - although something clearly went badly wrong in the late 1800s.
My grandad's family, the Terringtons, came from around the areas of Stanhoe, Gaton, and possibly Northwold.
At the moment my priority lies with the Garwoods - I still have a whole chain of unsolved mysteries in that family that could likely turn into quite a dramatic story, not to mention loose connections that need joining up. Though I'll probably have to wait until more documents are transcribed online to research that - I am totally blind so I couldn't get to any of the archives or indeed read their original material.
Anyway, look forward to reading whatever you guys are working on. My skills might be limited but I'll certainly help out where I can.
Cheers.

Welcome, hope your research on your family is fruitful. Is there a locale specific for your family? I have Canewdon for the Bush family but Howse is Blundeston

It is interesting how much one can find out even when the information is not online. I started researching in 2000 with very little online. Making friends with others researching and finding family members has been a bonus. From only the bare outlines to a? huge? family tree???being done collaborately.?

Hi Sarah,
Just wherever my family ends up really. The Garwoods in particular moved about a lot - if we take my direct ancestral line, we start in Norton Subcourse, then move to Thurlton between 1775 and 1801, then to Haddiscoe in the 1820s, then back to Thurlton, then to Beccles in the 1870s, then to Hull in the 1890s, then to Halifax in the 1940s...
Unfortunately information would have to be online for me to find it - not only that but transcribed as well. I am totally blind so A can't get to any physical repositories, and B can't read the records even if I did.
Cheers.

Dear Day Garwood
THe fact they moved around a lot would make it more difficult. My Johnson side did move more than the Bush family but they were Bedford, London. My maternal side Heath did travel more when they reached South Africa but the biggest problem was the very large families and Afrikaans naming pattern, first son after father, then paternal grandfather, then maternal grandfather, brothers. John Henry Heaths galore.?

Good luck with your research. If I were in England and near a research centre I would offer to help but I live in New Zealand. I hope you manage to get in touch with with someone researching? Garwood. It has certainly made it easier having a group of us all researching Heath.?

I am in the process?of leaving the lists as no one ever posts my names. I posted them all at the beginning but no one has responded as with Rootsweb. I had WOODROWs in Norfolk around Norwich, my paternal grandmother whose family I have back 2 generations. Grandmother married a BROWN in Suffolk but neither of those counties have responded to me.
