P25 radios

Of the Ham clubs associated near me one uses uhf encrypted one uses vhf and one uses vhf trunked. Why do they all use different rig setups? Where they can control who's in and who's out?

Have you contacted EF Johnson? It looks like the P-25 is in production. As for the various modes used by your local clubs, I can't help there. In our area of the country, we only have 4 basic systems: FM, D-Star, Yaesu Fusion, and DMR. We also have PL tones to work with which keep random radio signals from opening the repeater squelch. Nothing encrypted or trunked. As to why different schemes, it may depend on what radios are popular in a given area. Why trunking I have no idea.
