Capt. William Daniel of Middlesex Co., VA

Thank you, Kevin, for your continuing work. I just wanted to remind everyone that my first cousin Alfred David Daniel is in the Daniel DNA group and my 3rd cousin Jerry H. Daniel. They match completely on Y DNA. We have a 66 of 67 marker match with others going back to Capt. William and we descend from his son Robert. l hope it helps others connect. We believe that the mutation on one marker happened right at our Josiah Daniel b 1805 NC, son of James Key and Sarah Brown Daniel. This is understandable in that "volatile" markers can mutate. Cecil Daniels has a paper trail back to Capt. William and descends from another son of James Key and Sarah Brown Daniel. He is also in the DNA project. We have yet to find a scrap of paper in Caswell Co., NC, with Josiah's name on it, but have not found any other Daniel family with an unidentified son the right age to be our Josiah. Census records say that he was b in NC and parents b VA (that fits). The names of some of his children: James, Sarah, and William Brown Daniel would suggest a father named James and Brown from the mother's maiden name. We only had one day for research at the archives in Raleigh so don't know if we missed anything that might have placed Josiah there prior to moving to AL. So, anyone searching in NC, please let us know if you find anything with Josiah's name on it. Meanwhile, we trust that this is our connection.?
