I checked with the x10 help community and the process to get this site set up to use https is pretty straightforward. Https was apparently supported for most, if not all, of the time we have been using this site, but it was apparently broken by a server migration a few years ago. As I recall this had something to do with the failure of x10's back end servers which caused a pretty massive outage of their service. I think their backup servers failed?? This was fixed but https was broken for some sites. I won't get into the details! This is actually what I did for living for about 20 years so I will get it sorted out.
