?Hello David , I second what Kevin said, if you have or can find a male descendant in your line to do a y-dna test that would be helpful ,it will show you, possibly which family of Daniel's you are connected to. Concerning Ancestry family trees , when you get into that time period records are few and far between and some individuals like Capt. James Daniel have been researched fairly well and have more records associated with them,the problem arises when people make assumptions about relatedness and tack their family tree onto another without confirmation. It's something we all struggle with. I have my dad's autosomal dna on Ancestry DNA and I look at Ancestry's "Thru Lines" and several matches show a connection to Capt James Daniel or Elizabeth Woodson, but I'm fairly sure that's not the case,based on my own y-dna test.?
