Re: Is anyone in contact with Pam Miller?

Kevin,
I click on her website and get the error message as well...page not found.? I would likewise be concerned about if she is okay...given age and pandemic, etc.? However, in poking around online, I did find this link to zoom classes she was to be instructing in September of 2021, so that's a good sign I think...and possibly a way of getting through to her.

In addition, I wanted to add to the chain post the fact that the YDNA has proven beyond doubt that my family's Josiah Jonas Daniel 1793 NC -1856 LA, father of Marmaduke Edwin Daniel is NOT a descendant of the Middlesex Daniel line as so many people out there have listed incorrectly on their trees.? I've seen posts of Pam's that list the connection incorrectly too, though I couldn't find anything on the way back site...didn't understand it.? I have tried to reach out anytime I come across trees incorrectly showing that information.? We DO show a connection (via YDNA) to Owen Daniel and Thomas Daniel of Isle of Wight, VA and down.? We have to yet to find the exact descendant that links to Josiah Jonas Daniel though.??

I do believe I am close.? My theory (unproven) is that our Josiah Jonas Daniel's unknown wife was Nancy Little 1792 Pitt, NC - 1848 TN, 9th child of William Little 1756-1816 & Mary Crandall 1754-1803.? Josiah and Nancy were born only a year apart.? Both lived in Pitt County, NC (the same area where Owen and Thomas Daniel's descendants ended up) and moved to Shelby County, TN.? Nancy died in 1848 and Josiah Jonas moved on to Mer Ruege, Moorehouse Parrish LA in about 1850, after she would have passed.? There is a Roger Kemmerer, Genealogist, who compiled research on Pitt County and in particular, the descendants of William Little and Mary Crandall.? He lists their 14 children and under Nancy, their 9th, it simply says she "married Josiah Daniel and they had children".? That information is stated to have come from a family Bible.

That's not much to go on, I know, but I haven't been able to find anything else on HER, either....nobody has.? However, in addition to the dates fitting and the moves fitting, there is the fact that Josiah Jonas' son, Marmaduke (my 2x great grandfather) married Hibernia Love Booker Gardner in 1846 in Shelby Co, TN (before moving to Union Parrish, LA when Josiah moved to LA) and they named their firstborn child, a daughter who was born in TN in 1847, Nannie...perhaps after Marmaduke's mother, Nancy (?)...the year before Nancy Little Daniel(?) died.?

Add to that the fact that Marmaduke had a brother that his father, Josiah and wife named Enoch Little Daniel.? There is definitely a naming pattern to bolster my theory.

Additionally....I am finding more and more autosomal DNA matches to descendants of William Little and Mary Crandall.? ?There just seems to be nothing more on this Nancy Little!!!? And I can only theorize who, exactly Josiah Jonas' father was...which descendant of the Owen Daniel line.? At the moment, I am guessing it was Josiah Daniel 1768 - ?, son of Lemuel Daniel 1750-1821, son of Hardy/Hardee Daniel 1720-ca1760, son of Simon, son of Owen, son of Thomas, son of John....? Of course there is next to nothing on Josiah Daniel 1768 either.

Anyway...that's my story and I'm sticking to it until somebody proves me wrong, lol.

Thanks for the link, Michael. I've been using the WayBack? Machine for years. Many of the folks doing genealogical research are not very web savvy so I wanted the document that Patsy compiled available on this site so that it would be an easy place to point to for folks who just want to access the data that she compiled and not try to figure out how to navigate the WayBack Machine site. Now folks can choose how much effort they want to invest. Here is the link to the main page for Pam's site:

https://web.archive.org/web/20150704165039/http://home.comcast.net/~p.a.miller/genealogy/index.htm

I think the links on the Wayback Machine site are stable. I have had some of them bookmarked for around ten years and they still work.

I may create a new post that just contains the links and attach the document so that it will be less messy to find the links and file. The Middlesex Daniels are not my line so making the data easy to access is beneficial to me as I frequently get queries about this line. Responding to a query about this line is what led me to finding Pam's site is down. I manage the Daniel DNA Project in addition to this discussion group.

My main concern, currently, is seeing if anyone knows if Pam is OK. I think she is in her 70s... I checked ICANN and she has her domain until 10/2022 and has owned it since 10/2000, so the hosting bill for her site may not have been paid. Worrisome... Pam is one of the very best researchers I have ever known, maybe the best.

Best,

Kevin
