By today's standards, the comic routines weren't great, but "Honey Chile" had a way of getting a laugh with the dumbest jokes because of her exaggerated Southern accent, and the way she swung her nubile sixteen-year-old body around to emphasize a point.
Sample:
HOPE: You know, Honey Chile, there are a lot of comedians on the air. Why did you pick me as your partner?
HONEY CHILE: 'Cause ah had a fight with mah folks and ah want to do something to disgrace 'em.
HOPE: Uh-huh. Well, you picked the right partner.
HONEY CHILE: You know, Mr. Hope, ah've got two brothers at home that ah'm sure would be a big hit on the radio.
HOPE: What's their names?
HONEY CHILE: The oldest is Ed.
HOPE: What's the young one's name?
HONEY CHILE: Ed.
HOPE: Two boys in one family by the name of Ed?
HONEY CHILE: Yes, Father always said that two Eds were better than one.
