What?

Ebay Boy

Car boot find. Thought they might be some kind of threading tool??

What are they? how do you use them? What are they held in? Any ideas??

if worthwhile I can restore and use them.?

In the book 'American Copper & Brass" by Henry Kauffman, on page 60 there is an illustration of hand held turning tools for brass.? Two tools look remarkably similar to your find

Thankyou Larry. I’ve cleaned them up a bit today and found a few matching pairs. Internal and external I’m guessing. My concern is the rather “wooden tool handle” looking point on the end of each one.?

I’ve avoided touching the ends while cleaning up but at least now I can see what thread they are.?

I’ll await further comments before sticking them in “any tool holder” in case a best practice is known of.?

Are they hand thread chasers? ?I’ve come across them in the past but never used one, the tapered end is driven into a file handle and they’re used a bit like a wood turning tool, IIRC.

I might have an illustration, I’ll try and find it.

Tool Holders are pretty versatile. ?For example, I cast bullets. ?For antique bullet molds I have restored I use standard file handles purchased at Ace Hardware. ?

A bit pricey but then, everything on Ebay is pricey.
If they are chasers, they may be Whitworth.
