I am curios about a couple of things.? Ok for one do you have and end door and hinge for the lathe?? Also the extension sticking out the back of the spindle I don't recognize as standard Dalton.? Also your base casting for the compound slide is a lot longer than we see on the other Lot 2 lathes we know of.? ?Knowing that the compound slide was a weak point on this model we have seen a number of shop made replacements. Do you have a barrel for the tail stock? Also the bull gear teeth are a bit odd as you have what looks like a number of short ones but they also seem to be evenly spaced.? Are they repaired teeth or have they been shortened? Also your thread dial looks like it came from another lathe as the two very early Lot 2 lathes there was no provision for attaching a thread dial on the apron casting.? In your picture it kind of looks like an Atlas thread dial.? Your lead screw is a 12 pitch and as such the gear on the thread dial needs to be an even number multiple of 12.? 24 or 48 teeth.? 48 being standard thread dial gears on all lather Daltons other than the Lot 6 and Dalton 9 that used a 10 pitch lead screw so these two lathe models used a 40 tooth gear but the housing was the same as used on the Lot 3 4 and 5 lathes. The reason I ask about the end door is that I may have an extra one.??

Before and after. Another saved from the scrap. Joy to operate now.?
Total restoration work time approx 35 (real) hours start to finish. But that also includes all the tooling, saw table, steady rest, milling attachment, 4 jaw chuck and tail stock drill chucks and other accessories etc etc.?
