Most any design will work. My bench is a 2x6top with a nice piece of varnished cabinet grade plywood over the top- supported by 2x4 frame. ?Although it is nailed to the wall on two sides, so super strong.
I think the last thread I read, several folks described welding up steel bench¡¯s, with heavy steel plate for the top. Which undoubtedly work well, but may be overkill for the Dalton¡¯s. For years and years, South Bend sold wooden desk style bench¡¯s for all their smaller lathes.?
So lots of different ways to go...
