FW: DO YOU REMEMBER????
I have seen some of these before but there are some new ones that I had forgotten. I really enjoyed reliving some of the memories. Best of times we grew up in, so happy for us. Enjoy and give me some feedback on what you remembered....Hope your summer has been enjoyable. Heading to Dalton this weekend..... pjlee WONDERFUL MEMORIES!!! DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS? DO YOU KNOW HOW TO USE THIS ? WHAT'S THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THESE TWO OBJECTS? DID YOU EVER RIDE ONE OF THESE??? DO YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THESE? DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS? HAVE YOU EVER SHOPPED AT THIS STORE? DO YOU KNOW HOW TO PLAY WITH THESE? DO YOU RECOGNIZE WHO THIS IS? DO YOU KNOW THEIR NAMES? HAVE YOU EVER HAD A GLASS OF THIS? DID YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW HAVE ONE OF THESE? DID YOU, OR ANYONE YOU KNOW, EVER TAKE THIS CLASS IN SCHOOL? DO YOU KNOW WHAT'S HANGING FROM THE CHAIN OR RUNNING UP THE POLE? HAVE YOU EVER SEEN OR USED ONE OF THESE? DO YOU KNOW WHAT THESE ARE? HAVE YOU EVER USED THIS? HAVE YOU EVER PLAYED THIS? WAS THERE EVER A TIME IN YOUR LIFE THAT THIS WAS THE ONLY OPTION TO DRY YOUR CLOTHES? WHAT'S THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THESE TWO OBJECTS? IS THIS A FAMILIAR SCENE? DOES THIS BRING BACK GOOD MEMORIES? DID HE EVER COME TO YOUR HOUSE? DID YOU EVER HAVE TO SAY "HELLO" BEFORE YOU KNEW WHO WAS CALLING? DID YOU EVER LAUGH OUTLOUD WATCHING THIS? DID YOU KNOW... Those who were born in the 50’s 60’s ,70’s and early 80’s are the last generation who played in the street. During our childhood we “walked” over a mile a day when we played & played “hide & seek” outside at night with no worries or fear of anything bad happening to us. We are the first generation who played video games and the last to record songs off the radio onto a cassette tape. We learned how to program a VCR before anyone else, we were the first to play from Atari to Nintendo…We are the generation of Tom & Jerry, Looney Toons, & Captain Kangaroo. We traveled in cars without seat belts or air bags, lived without cell phones and caller ID. We did not have fax machines, flat screens, surround sound, I pods, FaceBook, Twitter, computers or the Internet, and through it all we had a great time. So bottom line is hope you were able to enjoy them on your smart phone.

Another Country Legend Gone
Sad news today that George Jones (aka No Show Jones) has passed away. He was one of the true country singers that we had back in the day. That leaves Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, John Conlee, and a few other oldies still around to perform. I can't stand to listen to all of the sound alike "country" singers today. I don't even know their names nor care to learn their names. Rest in Peace George Jones. Thecountrymusicmeister.

Australia says NO -- Second Time she has done this! She sure isn't backing down on her hard line stance and one has to appreciate her belief in the rights of her native countrymen. A breath of fresh air to see someone lead. Australian Prime Minister does it again!! The whole world needs a leader like this! Prime Minister Julia Gillard - Australia Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. Separately, Gillard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying she supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT... Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.' 'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.' 'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.' But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.' 'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.' NOTE: IF we circulate this amongst ourselves in Canada & USA , WE will find the courage to start speaking and voicing the same truths. If you agree please SEND THIS ON and ON, to as many people as you know... ;

FENDER SKIRTS AND SUPPER
God promises a safe landing not a calm passage! From: Patricia Forrer <twoforrers@...> To: Sent: Thursday, January 10, 2013 2:17 PM Subject: Fw: Fwd: FW: FENDER SKIRTS AND SUPPER FENDER SKIRTS AND SUPPER I know some of you will not understand this message, but I bet you know someone who might. I came across this yesterday. 'FENDER SKIRTS' A term I haven't heard in a long time, and thinking about 'fender skirts' started me thinking about other words that quietly disappear from our language with hardly a notice like 'curb feelers' And 'steering knobs.' (AKA) 'suicide knob,' 'neckers knobs.' Since I'd been thinking of cars, my mind naturally went that direction first. Any kids will probably have to find some older person over 50 to explain some of these terms to you. Remember 'Continental kits?' They were rear bumper extenders and spare tire covers that were supposed to make any car as cool as a Lincoln Continental. When did we quit calling them 'emergency brakes? At some point 'parking brake' became the proper term. But I miss the hint of drama that went with 'emergency brake.' I'm sad, too, that almost all the old folks are gone who would call the accelerator the 'foot feed.' Many today do not even know what a clutch is or that the dimmer switch used to be on the floor. For that matter, the starter was down there too. Didn't you ever wait at the street for your daddy to come home, so you could ride the 'running board' up to the house? Here's a phrase I heard all the time in my youth but never anymore - 'store-bought.' Of course, just about everything is store-bought these days. But once it was bragging material to have a store-bought dress or a store-bought bag of candy. 'Coast to coast' is a phrase that once held all sorts of excitement and now means almost nothing. Now we take the term 'worldwide' for granted. This floors me. On a smaller scale, 'wall-to-wall' was once a magical term in our homes. In the '50s, everyone covered his or her hardwood floors with, wow, wall-to-wall carpeting! Today, everyone replaces their wall-to-wall carpeting with hardwood floors. Go figure. When was the last time you heard the quaint phrase 'in a family way?' It's hard to imagine that the word 'pregnant' was once considered a little too graphic, a little too clinical for use in polite company, so we had all that talk about stork visits and 'being in a family way' or simply 'expecting.' Apparently 'brassiere' is a word no longer in usage. I said it the other day and my daughter cracked up. I guess it's just 'bra' now. 'Unmentionables' probably wouldn't be understood at all. I always loved going to the 'picture show,' but I considered 'movie' an affectation. Most of these words go back to the '50s, but here's a pure '60s word I came across the other day 'rat fink.' Ooh, what a nasty put-down! Here's a word I miss - 'percolator.' That was just a fun word to say. And what was it replaced with 'Coffee maker.' How dull... Mr. Coffee, I blame you for this. I miss those made-up marketing words that were meant to sound so modern and now sound so retro. Words like 'Dyna Flow' and 'Electrolux' and 'Frigidaire'. Introducing the 1963 Admiral TV, now with 'Spectra Vision!' Food for thought. Was there a telethon that wiped out lumbago? Nobody complains of that anymore. Maybe that's what Castor oil cured, because I never hear mothers threatening kids with Castor Oil anymore. Some words aren't gone, but are definitely on the endangered list. The one that grieves me most is 'supper.' Now everybody says 'dinner.' Save a great word. Invite someone to supper. Discuss fender skirts. Someone forwarded this to me. I thought some of us of a 'certain age' would remember most of these. Just for fun, pass it along to others of 'a certain age.' IF YOU AREN'T OF A CERTAIN AGE, YOU MUST KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS. : 66 Years Later - Interesting
3
STATEMENT AT THE END SAYS IT ALL !!!!! 66 years later! What happened to the radiation that lasts thousands of years? HIROSHIMA 1945 We all know that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed in August 1945 after the explosion of atomic bombs. However, we know little about the progress made by the people of that land during the past 65 years. HIROSHIMA - 65 YEARS LATER DETROIT- 65 YEARS AFTER HIROSHIMA What has caused more long term destruction - the A-bomb, or Government welfare programs created to buy the votes of those who want someone to take care of them? Japan does not have a welfare system. Work for it or do without. And I don’t think there has ever been a better explanation of the importance of incentive than this example These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read and all applicable to this: 1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. 2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. 3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. 4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it! 5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation. Can you think of a reason for not sharing this?

Winter Solstice means 1 day closer to Spring
The only good thing about winter means it is 1 day closer to spring and also 1 day closer to summer. Perhaps "White Christmas" is the cruelest song of all Christmas songs. I just remember black slush and shoveling packed snow and subsequent ice after the snow plow came through and embedded our driveway with a frozen glob of fleecy white stuff. My Christmas wish follows: For all those who are looking forward to a white Christmas be rewarded with such. For all those who prefer a non-white warm Christmas be rewarded with such. And may Brenda Lee still sing the Christmas songs forever. Is she still a 38 year old midget that I remember hearing about? And may Andy Williams still sing Christmas songs forever (even though he has passed on). I listened to a vinyl album he recorded back in 1967 today. Thank God for vinyls and the simple days of yesterday. And may Ray Conniff still sing the Christmas songs forever. And may Johnny Mathis still sing Christmas songs until he croaks (if he hasn't croaked already). And may Burl Ives have a Holly Jolly Christmas in his afterlife. And may egg nog have as many calories and trans fats as yesterday. And may Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians still be alive and well. And may the Johnny Mann Singers still continue to sing. And may Percy Faith and his orchestra still play their violins forever. And may Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer reign as the best novelty Christmas song of all time. And may Alvin and the Chipmunks be beaten to death with an oboe. And may Charlie Brown have a neato Christmas some year. And make me have a happy ending to this e-mail. No such luck. Merry Christmas. The World Gone Mad (aka Spouse A/Spouse B)
Just when I thought I had seen almost anything in this goofy upside down world, I saw a news blip on Fox News Channel that a new marriage certificate in Washington State will delete the terms Husband and Wife and replace that with Spouse A and Spouse B. So the dilemma is who is Spouse A and who is Spouse B in this strange politically correct neutered world we live in. Is Spouse A the husband or is he the wife? Is Spouse B the wife or is she the husband? Is there a he or she in the equation? Next in the pc gender neutered world will be the birth certificate showing the child of Spouse A and Spouse B as Child Person with no known sex as the child. The child will have no name and will be identified by a number (unless the number is judged to be discriminatory). Enough of these gender neutral nutcases. There are bigger problems in this day and time than gender bender freaks. Have a pleasant ordinary mundane weekend. The Traditionalmeister
