开云体育Greetings. We moved to Hot Springs Village, AR, a planned community, in December 2016. ?Largest gated community in the United States. ?There are 26,000 acres, it is 14 miles from one end to the other, only about 8,000 homes built out, about 13,000 residents. ?One stop light in the 14 miles. ?A busy day is when there are 5 cars at the light. Although we really liked Sun City in Georgetown, TX, the area became way too busy for us. Temperature is great, today 60’s but low 20’s in a couple of days. ?Maybe a touch of snow on Monday. ?Had one snow storm this year with a giant 1/4 inch but lots of icy roads. ?Nine golf courses (I don’t golf), eleven lakes (I don’t boat or fish). If it isn’t lakes, golf courses, roads or a few commercial buildings, it is all trees on rolling hills. Lot of activities going on and and can do as much or as little that you want to do. ?Sharon is playing cards and crocheting and I also play cards and will be joining a chorus in March. We both are Rotarians and that keeps us busy. We also RV so we are on the road for part of each year. Met some great neighbors so we get together at least once, maybe twice per month, to go out to eat or play games or attend shows. We are loving it here.? Haven’t kept in touch with anyone except those I see on Facebook. ? 2019 will be 60 years. ?Probably should consider a reunion of some kind.?

I miss living in the mountains but do get back up about 4 times a year for quilt retreats.? I'll be in Scaly in February on top of a mountain.? There's 18 of us that go every year to quilt and socialize. We've had a much colder winter this year than any we've had since we moved here to Mansfield. I don't ever get bored as I always have more quilts to make and I love to read. Sometimes this getting "old" is for the birds! I have no idea who this will reach but have been thinking about how blessed we are to still be alive in such exciting times. Would love to get a conversation going here. So I'll start.. We are still in Blue Ridge Georgia.? First year we did not go to Florida for the winter.? ?Very long dismal dreary days here.? We are well but easily bored as not as much to do in winter months.? Had a beautiful snow early December.? Enjoy cooking and entertaining.? Still doing flea market selling in spring summer and fall. ? Our little town has been discovered so traffic is becoming annoying. It why we moved here to get away from. ? Enjoying life and glad to have good health?. Who do you see on Facebook or keep in touch with?? Hopefully we can update our classmate list of addresses etc. Hope to hear from y'all... Patricia Lee |

It's Christmas Once More! 2014
Hi Everybody: Linda Fahrney Freeland here in Allen, Tx.? wishing all my 1959 classmates and their families a very MERRY CHRISTMAS !? AND A HAPPY 2015!? Yes, I say "Merry Christmas" very radically - no political correctness here! It's Christmas Eve and I have been out to eat with my daughter, Val, and then over to my Sister, Cheryl's home in Carrollton, Tx. and visited with her son, Kurt and family who are visiting from Idaho.? I had a nice evening.? This is one of the few Dec. 24th's that I didn't have too much to do.? I did decide to make homemade rolls from my Grandma Smith's recipe and now I'm babysitting that dough.? I think I have it to a point I can leave it overnight.? I hope so! I had a wonderful December with 8 Christmas gigS - 6 are over and have one Dec. 26th and Dec 31st - just a nice mix with have enough to do and plenty of time to get Christmas stuff done.? (Several of them were "The Fabulous Fifties-?which combines very well with classic Christmas songs that were released in the 1950's-which are many!??? This is the first year in 40 some years that I will not be with my son, Steve, nor his family.? They all went with my daughter-in-laws' parents to Mexico to some deluxe Hacienda with cooks and servants to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.? That includes my daughter-in-law and 2 grandsons - only grandchildren I have.? So while I will miss them dearly tomorrow, I will concentrate on my two daughters and son-in-law with me and on the most important child on Christmas - the Christ child!? Warmest regards to ALL OF YOU. |
Vinyl records are coming back (no kidding)/houseconcerts
Would you believe that vinyl records now cost more than cd's? We are regular attendees of house concerts in Boerne at the Fiesta RV Park. Check out the website . We have seen some really good entertainers there.? Of course they sell their cd's for $15 and vinyls for $20 to $25.? I guess the cost of plastic has increased over the years. Check the areas where you live to see if there are any house concerts.? The concept is live entertainment normally in a person's residence.? We start with a potluck (think church supper? bland stuff that all looks alike and is mostly the same color).? I always bring hot peppers or hot sauce or crushed red peppers to slam all over the lookalike stuff on my plate to get some flavor into the food. After the potluck, let the entertainment begin.? Normally 2 sets of music with? an intermission of decadent desserts--cookies, cakes, sometimes pies, etc. The admission (must be called a recommended donation because of ASCAP/BMI rules) is normally $15 to $20 for each person.? Crowds range from 30-80 persons. If you like live music, this concept is the best I have seen.? Nobody is allowed to talk while the singer is singing.? You can really hear the music without some loudmouth goofball chattermouth interfering!! Glad to see that some of you still are using the group postings. Have a relatively ok mundane nondescript boring monotonous dull day. Respectfully, Master Weaselmeister, Esq. IV |
