Well it could just be my imagination but I seem to remember that much.? Who knows for sure.? Did anyone keep a diary??? What grade was it in?? I cant find much on the Internet about operetta's.? Anyone out there have any information ??? Like did you keep your book??

Yes, we are talking about that.? Pat, I didn't remember you were the teapot.? Did you sing your song?? Gwen, I did remember you being the broom; wasn't somebody a dust pan?? Was there a Judy Gardner playing some part.? How old were we then? ?It was when I was staying a lot with my Grandma Smith as she helped me big time to learn all my lines.? What parts did the Stoin twins have?? Anybody remember the name of it?? Who were the teachers that helped with the rehearsals?

I was a "broom" in the operetta.??? I had to wear this silly looking "grass skirt", which I hated.??? I had to "swish" up?the pretend dirt on the floor.??? My Mom kept that grass skirt for many years, but finally threw it away.??? I can't?
remember who all was in that play.????? Anyone remember?????

I remember we had get togethers at a large two story house on Main east side of Dalton, north side, and I think it was the Bodager or Meisner home.? I'm not sure how many times we played that goofy game I only know there were several of us there.

You all may have had another "Kissing" party at the Meisner home (don't remember where that was), but I went to the party at Connie and Dick Bodager's house and there were gobs of guys and girls there.? (would be interesting if everybody would reveal if they were there or not).? And yes, we played "Post Office" and must have been the first time for that game for me!? Cause I've never forgot it.? That's the memory I have when I drive by Connie's house even today.
I want to confirm Pat's stories about a lot of girls doing and learning to do acrobats in the old school house in the basement girl's bathroom.? I remember doing that too!? I know one time I did a flip with no hands and don't how I did that to this day.? It's a wonder we didn't crack our heads on the cement floor and kill ourselves.? Pat says we used a big rubber cushioned pad.? I don't remember that - but maybe so.? I remember that Karen, Connie, and Nancy W. were the best and were featured later on in some kind of a talent show (or maybe a side act to one of our operettas that we had.
By the way everybody, I got a call about two weeks ago on a Sat. morning and it was Karen Eckard Baer.? We had a good visit on the phone and I told her about all the Yahoo group and how much fun it was.? She said to say "Hi" to everybody.? I asked her if she was not on line and she informed me that she was not a computer person.? I usually see Karen or at least talk to her when I go home as she was my childhood friend (both her and Jeff Eckard) as we just lived across the field from their houses and we did some serious playing as young children.? She is well and has a wonderful family and grandchildren that her and Mike visit often.? She retired a couple of years ago from her beauty salon that she had in her house.
Speaking of operetta's - does anybody remember one we did when we were about 9 or 10 years old?? I don't remember what grade that would have been.? I had a pretty big part in it and I was a "Teakettle."? Gwen, I remember you were in this one and was either a broom or a "Teapot."? I had to sing a song and it started out "A teakettle's life is a merry one (and then I forgot the words) and just sang? La, la, la, la, la, la, the rest of the song!? I know the song of "I'm a Little Teapot- short and stout" was also sang.? Don't remember any of the boy's parts.? Also anybody remember the operetta - "The Pied Piper of Hamlin" with all the rats following.? Let's hear from you if you do and who was in that one?????

Lanny I am glad I did not get involved in those parties.?? The only?parties I remember are
Slumber parties where we played spin the bottle at Connie bodagers ............ ....and slumber parties at betty hostettlers ? And we walked to Orrville by the back roads by moonlight to the root beer stand.? I know that more of you girls have slumber party stories so bring them on!???

Ok you guys are killing me.? I'm starting to flow with the memories, now comes the things we used to do that was not exactly good.? I remember on halloween night time when we used to cruise the back country roads looking for corn shocks farmers put up.? We used to practice our tackling by running thru ?fields and knocking them down.? I remember one smart farmer who put stakes in the middle of the shocks, OUCH!?

Do you remember when the amish buggy was disassembled and reassembled on the roof of a downtown business?? I remember the sheriff coming to school asking questions about the incident.?
?
How about Lanny Rossiter?? I remember the name.? He dated a girl (?) in school and I remember everyone used to tease her about dating a jailbird because he spent time in jail.? I believe that girl eventually dated Emer (Els) Royer from East Greenville who was my cousin.? He served time in the Army as a helicopter mechanic and liked to hang out with the Dalton school kids.? Any memories of him or her??

I remember parties where we used to place our hands over our mouths and noses and blow out emitting no air causing ourselves to pass out.? That is why some of us are now brainless and lucky to be alive.??

Kate Smith died physically in 1986 but her rendition of "God Bless America" will always continue.? I remember when ever I was sick and had to stay home, I would watch TV, Arthur Godfrey, Tennessee Ernie Ford (sp) and many other shows and she appeared on them as well and the weekly variety shows, Ed Sullivan, Milton Burle, etc.? We usually had a conflict on Sunday evenings as I wanted to watch "The Comedy Hour" and others wanted Ed Sullivan.? That was then followed by "The Sid Cesar Show".?
Someone earlier mentioned The Ted Mack Amateur Hour.? My sister Bonnie appeared live on that show from New York on May 21, 1961 playing the Marimba.? She was 18 at the time.? Someone recently found an archive tape of the show and made a CD for her and I now have a copy.
