And speaking of telephone numbers, when we lived on the farm, our telephone was the old crank type. It was a party line and we had rings. Our number was 27R14, which meant that we were on line 27 and our ring was one long and four shorts. We had to call the operator to be connected to anyone who was not on our line. I don't remember when, or if, we were upgraded to a more modern technology before we left the farm.
