Patricia,
?
First let me thank you for getting this thing together.? Do not get discourged, keep up the good work.? Even tho I may not participate as many?as the ?others do, eg weasel, I read all the messages and enjoy them.
?
We attended the Methodist church, caty corner from the Presbyterian church.? I remember a couple of things.? I remember Mr. Thomas after the services standing out front smoking his cigarette and just talking to me about things, a dumb kid and he took the time to jaw with me.? I remember one Sunday rev. Price had invited an evangelist to the service and after he preached he asked all those in the congregation (who were praying with eyes closed) who wanted to be saved to stand up.? I guess I was so inspired, (why??I never listened to the sermons anyway), I stood up and I stood there I peeked around and saw that no one else stood up.? A very embarassing moment as he asked who all stood up to come forward, and of course I did not.
?
Does anyone remember or participated in the Youth for Christ at the Methodist church?? Keep it up because memories are coming back.
?
Waiting?? Is life about waiting?? In school I waited for it to end.? I waited for the school year to be over and for summer to come.? In the army I "hurried up and wait".? In my life occupation I waited and watched.? Now, I find myself in the doctors office waiting for tests, opinions, diagnosis, referrals.? OLD AGE IS NOT FOR SISSIES!?
?
Lanny

Sure is a cute bunch of kids but i can hardly see it let alone guess
who anyone is. Perhaps we can blow it up for us with older eyes.
anyhow i have just been thinking about the two churches and who went
to which ones. it seems that the more affluent people went to the
presbyterian and the more middle class went to the methodist. or is
that just a case of too much thinking? i remember that the les
mosers went to the ME and the weisgarbers and the douglas's and the
goudy's went to the PRES. oh yes and the I Glen Berg's went to the ME
as Alberta played the organ. lets take a poll........ ...where did
you go to church as a child? or where did your family drag you? we
went to the ME and i have lots of great memories of revivals and
church camp and youth fellowship and church dinners. One of my
memories of going to church was that my dad would escort me up the
street to church and then toss out his cigar
as we got closer. He
would then turn around and walk back home as I crossed the street.
Also who remembers the OX ROAST? and the street carnivals? and the
sock hops on the school black top where all the girls had to dance
together. the DJ's came from wooster or massillon and played all the
great tunes from the 50's. We were a lucky bunch of kids growing up
in a great era...we just did not realize it! Just love looking at
the pictures of the guys at Brownies that Corrine posted...... Keep
the memories coming~ ~pjlee~
