Just a Reminder
Hello Everyone -- I just want to put out a reminder about holding on to your leash. You must hold onto your leash with your hand, not draped over your shoulder, your lap, your foot, tie it your purse or therapy dog bag, you must handle the leash with your hand according to ATD Rule # 38 on page 12 of your 2023 Member Handbook. Below is the direct quote from the Member Handbook: "38. Only the certified handler may handle his/her dog: Handlers must never leave their dogs alone with staff, patients, or visitors. The leash must be held by the member’s hand and may not be hooked or attached to the member’s body, belt, chair, wall, purse, or another person, etc." Please remember this for ALL visits. I know it can be easy to forget when you have a dog that is easy to handle and is just laying there, in someone's lap or when I am going around taking photographs, but this is the rule and it something were to happen and it was determined that you did not follow this rule or any other rule our insurance policy would be void for the incident and you would be liable for the fees. -- Joel T/O Alliance of Therapy Dogs

Welcome!!!
I thought I would put up the first post. I hope you all have joined this .io group. This group is just a location where we can share ideas about therapy dog stuff. Such as what visits are coming up and who is going on the visit, what limitations there are on a visit, who arranged the visit, if more teams and how many teams are needed for a visit, where to meet for a visit, if there are any special requirements to be able to visit at the facility, etc. If you have questions, please let me know and I will do my best to answer them. Again, this is the same type of .io group that Welcome Waggers uses to communicate between teams to share information and communicate between visits. We still use private emails as well, but if it something that we feel benefits the entire group, instead of doing a group email list we use the .io group to just share in one location. With Welcome Waggers and our 25 members we have sent around about 145 messages through our .io group for the month of August. It will all come together as we grow and get more teams certified and get visits lined up on a regular basis or just a single visit where we are looking for more teams to join you on a visit. This way you don't need to track everyone's email address you just need to log into this .io group and send out a message and everyone gets the message. Joel
