Midafternoon
At the mention of an Inn, the?Merchant?recommends his wife¡¯s brother¡¯s business, a place called? The
White Wail,?¡°°Õ±ð±ô±ô?Bahkram?that?Vichook?sent
you and he will prepare the best room.?Mahta
can show you the way!¡±?he offers.
While?Flynn?enjoys tea with the young woman and her father, the pirate,?´³³Ü¡¯²ú²¹°ù¾±±ô?looks
over?Sweet William?with his one good eye.?¡°Yeah,
you¡¯re a bigg¡¯n ain¡¯tcha lad,¡±?he grins showing his three remaining teeth.?¡°You don¡¯t want no beads or hankies,¡±?he
coughs, slipping down off a stool to limp over to a cracked wooden crate roughly 6 feet long. He pries open the top with a rod and shakes away a handful of straw. The crate holds a lead maul with a five foot long handle. The two handed Goliath weapon looks
to weigh a good 25 pounds, more than double the norm. The Barbarian guesses it does double damage as well. (OOC- Your current Battleaxe only weighs 4 pounds, is considered?magicaldue
to the?Light?enchantment, and is?versatile,?but
only deals 1d10 damage. The Goliath Maul does 4d6 damage, bludgeoning with the hammer side, slashing with the axe side, is?not?magical,
and can only be used two-handed/OOC).
The maul is in good condition. The wooden handle is well oiled and tarred with pitch as both a preservative and grip adhesive.?¡°The
lead blade obviously won¡¯t hold a sharp edge, but just the weight will split skulls. I can let ¡®er go for . . .¡±?he pauses as if actually considering the price,?¡°.
. . forty gold?¡±?The statement sounds more like a question than an offer.
Meanwhile,?Flynn?is being interrogated by the?Amnian,
whose keen eyes noticed the?µþ²¹°ù»å¡¯²õ?valuable ring.?¡°Mahta
is in need of a husband,¡±?he states boldly.?¡°You
would be good for her, no? In my family we have many children. She will provide an heir and many more, I have no doubts,¡±?he brags with a beaming smile.
Brother Ashley?admires the scents of several perfumes and selects one reminiscent of night blooming jasmine. He has a single piece of jet gemstone
saved from months earlier and offers it in trade, which the?Amnian?graciously accepts and gives a half dozen silvers to balance the scales.
When?North?offers the potion, the Merchant squints his eyes at it, holds it up to the sun, and wiggles it in his fingers.?¡°What
does it do?¡±?he asks curiously.
Wandering over to the pirate¡¯s shack next to Sweet William,?Cerina?finds an open barrel holding a dozen shortswords of
varying shape and quality. ¡°Nah, miss,¡± ´³³Ü¡¯²ú²¹°ù¾±±ô interrupts. ¡°Thems for the muckers. What you¡¯ll be wantin¡¯ is one of these,¡± he says sliding a crate out from under a table. Pushing aside the straw, he reveals four highly polished and detailed quality blades.
He lifts one and offers the hilt to the Ranger.?¡°Sharp as a kitten¡¯s claw,¡±?he brags then catching Tabby out of the corner of his eye clears
his throat and stammers,?¡°What I mean is, these are masterworked by the dwarves of the underdesert. The cast their iron with some secret ore only they know how
to mine. Leaves the edge fine enough to shave the hair of a fly¡¯s backside without changing its flight. Not magical mind you. But just as deadly.¡±?He gives a crisp nod.
Testing the weight and cautiously scraping the blade with a thumb, the Dragonborne determines that the sword is exquisite. (OOC- a normal shortsword
deals 1d6 damage and has the light and finesse properties. This sword has the equivalent of a +1 due to the razor edge and deals 2d6 slashing damage./OOC)
¡°None of these sea dogs are worthy,¡±?he says glancing over at the pier.?¡°Wouldn¡¯t
know quality if it bit them. So I¡¯ll let you have one for 25 gold.¡±
And what do you do?
